The North Sea Empire, (Officially Kingdom of the North Sea Empire) is a unitary parliamentary monarchy located in Northern Europe, comprising Denmark, Norway, Scotland, Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and several North Atlantic territories. The empire’s population is approximately 32.3 million. The monarchy, currently headed by King James I, holds a ceremonial role, while executive power rests with the Prime Minister, elected by the people. Governed as a Unitary Parliamentary Constitutional Monarchy, the kingdom adheres to conservative social policies while having moderate economic principles. The official currency used within the realm is the Nordic Mark (₦). The nation has a highly developed modern economy.

History

Foundation & Viking Era (800-1100 AD)
The North Sea Empire traces its origins to the Viking Age, when King Ewan I convened the Gathering of the Fjords in 822 AD, uniting Norse chieftains from Denmark, Norway, Scotland, and the North Atlantic islands. This early confederation expanded through a combination of conquest and alliances, solidifying control over trade routes across the North Sea. By the mid-11th century, the empire had established a powerful maritime network, linking Scandinavia and the British Isles.

Medieval Period & Centralization (1100-1500 AD)
Throughout the High Middle Ages, the empire evolved into a more centralized monarchy. King Harald IV (r. 1278–1305) implemented the Nordic Charter, formalizing noble land rights while strengthening the monarchy’s authority. By 1400, the empire had developed a standardized legal system, a common currency, and a merchant fleet rivaling the Hanseatic League.

Colonialism & Economic Growth (1500-1800 AD)
During the Age of Exploration, the North Sea Empire established trading outposts in Iceland, the Faroes, and parts of the North American coastline. The discovery of rich fisheries and timber reserves in the North Atlantic fueled economic growth. However, tensions with emerging European powers led to naval conflicts, particularly against England and the Netherlands.

21st Century & Contemporary Politics
Entering the 21st century, the North Sea Empire faced challenges including economic stagnation, an aging population, and environmental concerns. Prime Minister Harwolf Kahan’s administration (2000–2015) enacted the Nordic Integration Act, obtaining closer regional cooperation. He also brokered the Treaty of Concordia, ending a decade-long internal conflict in the Scottish Highlands.

The sudden death of King Lucifer II in 2018 triggered a succession crisis, resolved when King James I assumed the throne. His reign has advocated for economic revitalization, military modernization, and regional cooperation. The empire remains a regional power with a highly developed economy, ranking among the world’s leaders in maritime trade.
