The Federal Union of Serbia was established after a coup in 1991, overthrowing president Slobodan Milošević, multiple nations including Croatia(joined by Herzegovina), Bosnia, Slovenia, Macedonia and Kosovo declared it's independence.

In 1995, a large scale war brokeout between former Yugoslav nations as tensions grew between Croatia and Bosnia and Albania trying to assert it's influence in Kosovo and Macedonia. First war brokeout as an incident occured around the border between Herzegovina and Bosnia, the Bosniak army and Croat army engaged in intense firefight as the incident esculated into a full scale war.

In 1996, the Federal Union of Serbia intervened in the war to protect the Serbian population within Bosnia, the Serbian population then declared it's independence from the Bosniaks and formed the Republika Srpska, by June the Serbian forces have cut off the city of Sarajevo from the Bosniak forces and occupied most of the city.

In late 1996, most of Bosniak forces have been wiped out, most Bosniak territories were annexed into the Federal Union of Serbia, and the Republika Srpska joined Federal Union of Serbia after a referendum. Herzegovina remained in controll of the Croats, the Croats gained minor Bosniak territory after the war, the Croats weren't happy about how little they gained from the war, but had to accept the ceasefire

The second war happened in mid 1997, Kosovo and Macedonia held a referendum to join Albania, in which both nation chose to join, but this upsetted Federal Union of Serbia and Bulgaria as they formed a military alliance against Albania. In August 1997, Bulgarian troops marched into Eastern part of Macedonia, occupying it, the Albania government sent their army to the Western part of Macedonia, ready to defend against further Bulgarian advance in the region.
