REPUBLIC OF GREENLAND MOURNS VICTIMS OF MASS SHOOTING + MORE NEWS

On December 5th, reports of automatic gunfire and explosions in Warwick Park within the capital city of Reach flooded local emergency dispatches. Inside of a barricaded 9th floor apartment, 47-year-old Adam Williamson, armed with a belt-fed MA21 7.62mm general-purpose machine gun (GPMG), a Mosin Nagant 7.62mm Soviet bolt-action rifle, and an M10 37mm tripod-mounted single-shot artillery cannon, as well as several other small arms, fired round after round at pedestrians and vehicles in the streets below him. He had obtained all of his weapons legally, and had well over 5,000 rounds of ammunition, as well as 80 37mm shells, which was 65 shells over the legal limit. 

From 12:30 PM to 1:50 PM, Williamson continued firing on anyone he saw, even as the Reach Police Tactical Squad (RPTS) attempted to break into his apartment. He fired several rounds from an MKM Kalashnikov rifle through his door, severely wounding one officer and killing another, and used both his cannon and machine gun to kill at least 12 other officers on the ground below. Eventually, the RPTS resorted to using explosives to breach the room and swiftly neutralized Williamson. In his possession was several bottles of prescription medication, 5,000 rounds of 7.62mm (Malkovich and GSC types), 200 rounds of .357 Minotaur, 50 12 gauge slugs, a Minotaur PTR-1 revolver, a Minotaur DS-12 shotgun, the aforementioned Forge MA21 machine gun and Malkovich Mosin Nagant, and the extremely controversial M10 37mm. 

Discussions by liberal politicians, and even a few National Conservative senators, regarding the legality of artillery cannons, have since become more prominent. Many politicians involved in these debates are calling for a total ban on such weapons, a movement which has garnered much support, with approximately 67% of the population supporting it. 89 people were killed and another 253 were wounded by Williamson, who was a member of the Nationalist Party. 

BENGAL SENDS 10 MILLION IMMIGRANTS TO REPUBLIC OF GREENLAND

As per an agreement with the Republic Of Bengal, over 10 million citizens have been sent to live in the ROG due to overpopulation. Many healthy males between 18-35 are already showing their patriotism and support for the Republic by enlisting in the military, which would grant them citizenship and the right to vote. The agreement is heavily strengthening relations with the Republic of Bengal and UOI as a whole. On top of this, a deal has been brokered for the construction of 2 Hades-class Prowlers and 2 Excalibur-class super cruisers for the Republic Of Bengal. The order is due to be completed in either 2102 or 2103. 

The new soldiers, approximately 200,000 in strength, will form 4th Army, which is to finish training within the next 8 months (aside from officers and airborne units) bringing the total unit count within the military to approximately 600,000 active duty and 200,000 reserves, and the population of the empire to 36 million. The Republic Of Greenland has assigned 4 million to live in Iceland, 3 million in Haut-Katanga, 1 million in Greenland and 2 million in Switzerland. 

President Hayes would also like to invite other nations to send people to the ROG if they suffer from overpopulation. The only restrictions are that the immigrants must hold citizenship in that nation, have a clean criminal record, and be healthy and both mentally and physically fit. On top of this, the ROG is also looking to purchase new land. Any nation interested should reach out. The Republic can pay large amounts of cash and resources.

REPUBLIC OF GREENLAND BEGINS RESEARCH ON MECHS WITH GSC COUNCIL

The Republic Of Greenland, alongside the rest of the council of the Global Security Coalition, has begun research and funding on battle mechs. The Republic Of Greenland has put 2 billion in funding into the project and research will be divvied up amongst the nations of Mundusia, Threse, Sedrosia, Lunoria, the Congo, and Raritania. All nations will also be expected to donate funds as well. Once the project is completed, the mechs will be given out to all nations within the GSC. Smaller nations that are given mechs will have larger nations such as the ROG that will fully maintain them and pay for repairs and such. The ROG also hopes to give said mechs to the Transvaal Republic and Luna. 

So far, the following weaponry has been decided upon for use on the battle mechs:

• Belt-fed automatic 4-gauge wrist-mounted shotgun
• 105mm anti-surface and anti-air shoulder-mounted cannon
• Shoulder mounted 12-barrel computer-controlled 40mm anti-air and anti-surface rocket pod
• Triple-barreled .50 BMG wrist-mounted minigun

On top of this, it is hoped that the mechs will support 5 or 6 inch composite armor, a max walking speed of 10 mph (20 mph running) and have lots of technological capabilities. The ROG may purchase mechs from RoDevs to aid in the research and development process. The ROG also hopes to create a model that uses a flamethrower, though this remains undecided upon until the base model (with weaponry listed above) is complete.
