An old man's thoughts

An old, shaking man with a long silver beard steps up on a podium with a crowd watching profusely as he opens his mouth to speak.
“My name is Archibald Reinsdorf. I am 79 years old and was born in Elsebethen, Salzburg. In my lifetime, my home has been occupied more times than I can count. We have had all kinds of people from all walks of life appear on our soil before, but I can say, with certainty, that one kind has been the worst. I’m not talking about skin colour, nor about sexual orientation or gender. I am talking about fascists. Greedy, needy, murdery fascists like the ones in Russia. A fascist will never hesitate to take whatever does not belong to him. A fascist will always take your whole hand when you give them a finger. A fascist does not see death as a tragedy, but as a statistic, and a fascist thinks you, dear listeners in the world, might make a fine addition to that statistic. Thanks to my various connections to many different government agencies around the world I can present you this: conversations of Russian officials waiting to attack the Chinese Republic and to overrun eastern Europe with a wave of dirty, brown fascism. Their new, likely unaware, puppets and stooges say they want a ‘stable world’ for our people to live in. Allow me to ask you this. Do you wish to give up your freedom to live under a fascist peace?” The crowd shouts a firm “NO!” “Do you wish to live in a world where every decision is made from Moskau or Istanbul?” Again, the crowd shouts a firm “NO!” “Are you ready to live in a world where you and your family are free?” The crowd responds with an unmovable “YES!” “Are you willing to defend our way of life in the face of fascist invaders?” The crowd again shouts a determined “YES!” “Then walk out on the streets, grab your firearms and make your way to China! If the Chinese bastion falls, Russia will come for us next!” The crowd roars up. “If Japan falls, South East Asia is next, then India, then the Americas, and eventually, the entire world will fall victim under the Russian worldview! We shall not surrender to the fascists, we shall stand firm against their expansionism and we shall help all those we can! No one is left to fight this cancer alone!” A diminutive woman steps on the podium, “Thank you, Mr Reinsdorf, may I speak?”  “Of course, madam.” Two younger people help the old man off the stage as Akane Naito steps forth. “People of the Ajakon Confederation, I am the Head Diplomat of the Ajakon Confederation and the major decision-maker of diplomatic policies. We can no longer leave people to rot by themselves, we will have to make a stand. We will support China with any force we can, as much as we can. As Mr. Reinsdorf said, the way of life of most of the world is threatened by pretty words and fake moves. We will fight against this in any way we can. Russia has threatened the NaN and we will not be cowed. We will defend China and its current claims, we will work against this spread of fascism in every way we can, starting with the support of China with Ajakon military resources. We will fight against what they are threatening to bring.” She steps down, leaving a stunned approval behind her. A young man walks on the stage afterwards, wearing casual clothes and styled hair. “Evening. My name’s Joseph Aros. Some of you may know me as the CEO of Niigata Corp. Think of me what you may, it is clear that Russia specifically poses a great threat against our country. Their resources in Siberia make them a formidable foe, even if their discipline, corruption and general incompetence paints a different picture. Now, we are currently attempting to open up talks with Chinese and maybe even Korean governments to offer some of our newest equipment, the Eagle Attack Helicopter, in a potential war against Russia. Before we were able to get the Japanese government to agree, we, in cooperation with our wonderful colleagues at Apohari Industries, were able to convince the Industrial complex and military administration to license a version of the Type 93 Kasha II to the Chinese government to help them further in their modernisation efforts. They should pose a formidable defence against Russian incursion if the Rus’ even dare to invade a neutral nation. Oh, by the way, did you know that the Siberian coast is historically Ainu land? Just some thought food. I’ll be on my way now, farewell, dear people of Niigata.” Not a single clap is heard as he leaves the stage. Just stares.
