Wow. 2023 is almost over. Is it just me or has it went so quickly? So much has happened this year. Covid 19 has basically vanished, AI is taking over the Internet, Canadian wildfire smoke choked NYC, King Charles III was crowned, the Moroccon earthquake took the lives of thousands, the Ukraine war still wages on, Chinese spy balloons went boom, the Titan submarine sunk to its watery demise and the Israel - !@#$ war broke out. Oh, and the doomsday clock is at 90 seconds to midnight; we are the closest we have ever been to nuclear armageddon. This year's headlines was dominated by new wars, economic uncertainty and quite a lot of people lost their lives to unnecessary causes. I think we can all agree that 2023 was overwhelmingly negative.

Back to the world of orbis bulletins, this year has been extremely eventful. So many notable events have happened, I can not begin to recall half of them. Many nations left like Novaya Rimskaya, New Eden, Nukeya (who left more than a dozen times) and the Chittagong State. Many nations joined and rejoined like TUI, Victoria, Nebylstan and Surriland. These are only a few of the nations that deserve their names on these lists. 2023 has had some of the best storylines I have ever read; the likes of Janis Turn's many escapades, the Dauchh-nukeya war, the Eden - nukeya war, JI's many storylines and the brilliant Novella collaboration. And oh boy, this year has had more wars than most that came before. The GW-Red bloc war, the many colonial wars and the ASPA - UEC wars have all had massive impacts on our world. Alliances have been forged and have crumbled, Empire's have met their demise and a lot of nuclear weapons were unleashed. Despite the constant wars and radiation, I think that this has been one of the most successful years in bulletins. Nations have worked in harmony to create storylines together, to cast out some horrible people from our little community and to help fellow players when they are going through a tough time.

What I think i am trying to say is that 2023 had had is ups and downs, likes every other year, but despite what has happened we have still managed to get through, even if that is easier for some people compared to others. I wholeheartedly hope next year will be more overwhelmingly positive compared to this year. With that said, happy new year and bring on 2024!
