Refugee crisis / Defanging the Melonese nuclear deterrent

Following the nuclear annihilation of America and the Soviet Federation, the world economy has fallen dramatically. As the new largest economy in the world, Britain has felt the largest impact of it in the Western World. The British Empire's GDP has fallen by 6% in the first week since the attacks. Unemployment has reached an all-time high in the history of the British Empire; the employment rate is sitting at around 8 percent.

Fortunately, due to fortunate wind conditions, nuclear fallout has veered away from the British Isles. Due to their proximity to nuclear detonations, the following colonies have been affected by radiation:

The Bahamas

Stockholm

Qatar

United Arab Emirates

Large-scale evacuations have taken place across affected areas and have been granted temporary accommodation in British Africa. Over 410,000 British citizens have been displaced so far and it is expected to rise to over 600,000. 

The Royal Navy has been deployed to the Baltic Sea, the Californian coast and the American Seaboard to ease the refugee crisis. British satellites have hacked into the unaffected electronics across America and Russia to display evacuation information. Additionally, the British military AI, named C.R.U.M.P.ET, has accessed radio broadcasting in certain countries to inform their populations on medical information, updates on fallout and information on how to evacuate. The radio broadcast was streamed in the Soviet Federation, North American regions affected by fallout, Belarus and Gulvia. Following the broadcast, British transport helicopters began to ferry refugees from the affected countries to the Royal Navy fleets. British merchant ships and container ships were also utilised in the evacuation to transport refugees to British colonies and military bases in proximity. It is expected that annual immigration rates will peak at around 14 million, almost double that of last year. 

Melon, I'm sorry about this. You've been a great ally but I'm afraid I'm going to have to cut our relationship short. 

British Shield satellites have begun to jam nuclear weapon launch codes in France, Cyprus, Cuba and any other Melon territories. This is to prevent a nuclear retaliation for the following.

The MoD has organised a simulated naval battle between the Royal Navy and Melon navy. Located in the Mediterranean Sea, vessels from both countries have simulated a multitude of different scenarios, including anti-submarine drills and simulated nuclear strikes.

Melon deployed the following forces:

4 Sickle Class Destroyers 

2 Frigates  

26 Destroyers

11 Cruisers

21 U-Boats/Submarines 

15 Corvettes

The royal navy deployed multiple fleets including every reinforcement fleet, the Mediterranean Fleet and the Arabian Fleet. As well as this, the modernisation of a certain few seized naval ships has been completed, the vast majority being vessels previously owned by Ecuador. This includes the following:

5 destroyers 

7 frigates 

9 attack submarines 

Furthermore, multiple naval PMCs were hired to involve themselves: Titan Security Services and Protection Vessels International. 

About halfway through the exercises, the nuclear strike drill was initiated; several Melonese nuclear submarines launched decoy nuclear warheads from their submerged depths. British Guardian satellites tracked the missiles and figured out the exact coordinates of the nuclear submarines. This information was then relayed to the Royal Navy. Because the Melonese submarines frequently updated British forces on their whereabouts, albeit slightly vaguely, British anti-submarine forces managed to stay in pursuit. This included a multitude of attack submarines, frigates and ASW helicopters. After a brief firefight, all nuclear submarines were sunk. 

Following the sinking of the submarines, the Royal Navy began their attack on the oblivious Melonese forces. Claiming that a new assault would be a part of the drill, over 280 aircraft and 200 anti-ship missiles were launched to overwhelm the ships. Because they were unprepared for the attack, they suffered huge losses. CIWS systems were activated too late and only 16 aircraft were destroyed. This first attack sunk the following vessels:

The Royal Navy, attempting to capitalise on the confusion, opened fire on the Melonese ships causing further casualties. The Melonese vessels began to flee to homeports as British munitions tore through their ships. As they retreated, multiple ships surrendered to the RN.

Melon, I only want to remove the communist regime in your nation. I do not want land, I do not want your complete destruction. I just cannot tolerate communist rule on my border. As a sign of goodwill, I may give you some land after and offer reparations to cover any damage to civilian infrastructure. 

Over 400,000 soldiers and 2,000 armoured vehicles are being stationed in Spain for further attacks and the Marines have been put on high alert. Additionally, the RAF has begun ferrying refugees out of Spain and Portugal as the government has collapsed in the nation. 

British special forces have allegedly been deployed To Western Switzerland and Russia but it hasn't been confirmed by the MoD. 

After extensive negotiations, the TUI Naval base in Somalia has been recruited to fight for Britain. After hearing of the destruction of their home country, they were willing to join the British army for a fee. Around 80% of the personnel were recruited but the rest chose to leave.
