Government says it doesn't have funds for unemployment aid amid crisis.

[Santo Domingo] - October 29, 2097 - The Dmzri administration said it didn't have funds for unemployment aid amid the national economic crisis which has been caused by the global recession. Proposed funding packages, valued at $600 USD per month for 4,000,000 people currently enrolled in unemployment programs would cost the government twenty eight billion USD annually, and with no sign of the economy fully recovering by then, Santo Domingo has deemed it unaffordable.

Dmzri's office has generally left the budget in surplus for the majority of his two year tenure, but due to debt payments to foreign governments and expensive military operations globally, little room has been left in the national treasury which could go to unemployment aid; This spells trouble for the livelihoods of millions in Hispaniola and Dmzri's popularity, with economic recovery the backbone of his campaign, it's not looking good for his re-election. Additionally, a poll from Ruddock Media found that of 65,000 surveyed, 82% of the national populace support unemployment relief aid or other types of government stimulus to alleviate the struggling working class's financial woes.

In addition to frustrations with the copious amount of spending given to the military and Graveyard Fleet, public resentment has also increased due president Dmzri declining to take Dockyards profits from the Graveyard Fleet to go to stimulus funds. The project has generated about 6 Billion dollars in revenue, with an additional 12 Billion expected to be generated over the next two years due to purchase of ships at the Dockyards project from 3 nations, those of which being The Netherlands, New Olsztyn, and Novist.

 Nation signs pact with RoC

[Santo Domingo] - October 26, 2097 - Following  President Dmzri's visit to China  and meeting with Li Shimin, it has been announced that the Caribbean Republic and Republic of China have signed a mutual defense pact, including bounding the Graveyard Fleet; This will require either nation to come to the others aid in cases of unprovoked aggression. The process of organizing the details and specifics of the pact took several months, president Dmzri remarked, "We are glad to have it completed, we are glad to have China consider and accept this partnership, which will surely help The Caribbean and China procure peace in their respective regions."
Public reaction was lackluster to say the least, though, the news has been met positively by congress and all criticism of the pact is finance related, with no hate directed specifically at China or distrust in the Chinese government.
