Its founder, a charismatic engineer named Rothilion Magvaris, was crowned King Rothilion I, not through conquest, but through popular acclaim. He’d built Gondolin, a marvel of sustainable architecture and well-integrated infrastructure, from the ground up. 

Nova was different. Its citizens, a mix of engineers, scientists, and artists from around the world, lived in harmony. Resources were managed efficiently, using advanced recycling and renewable energy. There was little poverty, negligible crime, and low unemployment. King Rothilion, a practical leader, focused on innovation and the collective good. He ruled with a parliament of advisors, elected by the citizens and known as the Landsrad. 

The city's initial success attracted attention. Larger nations showed interest, some with offers of aid, others with more insidious intentions. A powerful multinational corporation, Global Technologies Corp, saw Gondolin's land as a lucrative prize. They offered King Rothilion a lucrative deal, promising massive investment in exchange for exclusive rights to Gondolin's land. 

The King's council was divided. Some saw the offer as a chance to expand and improve Nova even further. Others worried about losing control and becoming dependent on Global Technologies Corp. King Rothilion himself was conflicted. He knew the deal would bring immense wealth, but at what cost? His initial vision of a self-sufficient, independent Gondolin was at stake. 

He addressed the city, not with grand pronouncements, but with quiet honesty. He laid out the facts, the risks, and the difficult choices. He confessed his own internal struggle. He then announced a city-wide referendum, letting the citizens decide Gondolin's fate. It wasn't a glamorous speech, but it was sincere and it resonated. The people of Gondolin, united by a shared love for their city, turned out in droves. 

The results were clear: a resounding rejection of Global Technologies Corp's offer. Gondolin would remain independent. The crisis brought the city closer, strengthening its sense of identity and self-reliance. King Rothilion, having proven his commitment to democracy and the will of his people, continued to lead Gondolin into a future free from corporate control, a future built on innovation and shared prosperity.
