Magaallo, formally the Republic of Magaallo and formerly the Republic of East Guinea, is a country in West Africa situated along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea to the south. Magaallo is a federal republic with a dominant-party representative democratic system. The federal system comprises 24 civic districts and the Kalumba Federal Capital District (KFCD), where the capital city of Kalumba is located. Kalumba is the nation's most prominent city of cultural, political, and economic importance, named after revolutionary figure Kalumba Mavoungou. Magaallo is categorized as a developing country with a high Human Development Index and diverse economy with specialized production and expansion in the petroleum industry [WIP: read on about the nation’s industries and economic system in the nation factbook]. The nation gets its name from the Ma’galla, the dominant ethnic group of the region, which accounts for over eighty percent of its population. 

The political system of Magaallo is headed by the State Commandant or simply the Commandant. The individual of the highest authority in the current leading political party, coalition, or associated council is appointed State Commandant for the duration that a party has majority control in the legislature through each electoral cycle. The legislature is currently dominated by the National Restoration Committee of Magaallo (NRC), a democratic socialist party led by Committee Premier and present State Commandant Kalumba Mavoungou. The NRC has been the dominant party since the nation’s establishment; it is a direct descendant of the defunct West African Revolutionary Forces of Guinea (WARFOG). Other parties represented in the national legislature include the United Civic Front of Magaallo (UCF), the Catholic Union Party of Magaallo (CUP), Oduduwa United (ODUWA), the Magallese Communist Party (MCP), the Reform for Magaallo Party (RfMP/RMP), and the Garden Party for Magaallo (GP/Garden) [WIP: read on about national party histories and ideologies in the nation factbook]. To compete with the growing power of the NRC, centre-left/centrist parties UCF, ODUWA, RfMP, and GP vote on legislative measures under a cooperative political association formally named the Coalition of Independent Parties for Progress (CIPP). As one, CIPP is the second-largest legislative entity in the current electoral cycle.

The National Congress of Magaallo is the nation’s unicameral federal legislative body elected by the citizens of Magaallo. It currently holds 196 civic representatives, with eight elected per civic region and four elected in KFCD. The parties lead the National Congress as follows: 

NRC (82 seats) UCF (37 seats; CIPP) CUP (18 seats), ODUWA (16 seats; CIPP), RfMP (15 seats; CIPP), MCP (14 seats), GP (11 seats; CIPP)

The remaining 4 members of the National Congress are independent of party affiliation. CIPP makes up 79 seats in the legislature, just behind the NRC. The National Congress leadership positions are held by two individuals nominated by their parties or political organizations and elected by civic representatives in the first week following an electoral cycle or impeachment: the Speaker Premier and the Speaker Reserve of the National Congress, respectively.

Regarding foreign policy, the government of Magaallo has designated a significant amount of time and resources to build diplomacy amongst other nations since its establishment. To preserve the nation’s democracy and safety, and secure its place on the global stage, the Magallese government agreed to request membership for entry into the intercontinental alliance called the Federated States of Orbis (FSO). Membership has since been approved; the states of FSO and Magaallo have as such strengthened diplomatic ties and defensive measures. Under the Mavoungou administration, Magaallo is represented in FSO by State Diplomatic Advisor Okafor Desmet. Desmet was appointed by Commandant Mavoungou for his expertise and experience in a plethora of political and economic issues. Currently, Desmet serves as one of the Undersecretaries of the Department of Education for FSO and previously served as an Undersecretary of the Department of Financial and Economic Development.
