Magaallo, formally the Republic of Magaallo and formerly the Republic of East Guinea, is a country in West Africa situated along the coast of the Gulf of Guinea to the south. Magaallo is a federal republic with a dominant-party representative democratic system. The federal system comprises 27 civic districts and the Kalumba Premier District (KPD), where the capital city of Kalumba is located. Kalumba is known for its cultural, political, and economic significance to the nation and its people; it is named in honor of Kalumba Mavoungou. Magaallo is categorized as a developing country with a high Human Development Index and diverse economy with specialized production in the petroleum and bauxite industries [WIP: read on about the nation’s industries and economic system in the nation factbook]. The nation gets its name from the Ma’galla—the dominant tribe of the region—which accounts for over eighty percent of the population. 

The government of Magaallo is composed of three branches: executive, legislative, and magistral.

The executive branch is charged with enforcing the law of the land and carrying out routine government operations. It is headed by the State Commandant (SC), or simply the Commandant, who is also recognized as the head of state and government of Magaallo. The individual of the highest authority in the current leading political party, coalition, or associated council is appointed as the SC for the duration that a party holds majority control in the legislature through each electoral cycle. The second-in-command of the executive branch is the Lieutenant Commandant (LC), appointed by the SC. The succession of power continues with a chain of ministers appointed by the SC and confirmed by the legislature as follows:

Minister of Defense; Minister of Energy; Minister of Finance; Minister of Education; Minister of Civic Affairs; Minister of Foreign Affairs

The legislative branch is the branch responsible for the production and enactment of national laws and treaties. Specifically, the legislature refers to the National Congress (NC), the nation’s unicameral federal legislative body elected by its citizens. It currently holds 212 civic representative seats with eight elected per civic region and four elected from the KPD. The NC is headed by two leadership positions held by individuals nominated by their parties and elected by civic representatives in the first week following an electoral cycle or impeachment. The highest position is National Chairman, followed by Chair Reserve as a stand-in should the National Chairman be found unfit for office due to injury, illness, or general misconduct.

The dominant party in the NC per this electoral cycle is the National Restoration Committee of Magaallo (NRC) which has been the dominant party since the nation’s establishment. The NRC is led by Committee Premier/State Commandant Kalumba Mavoungou. Its dominance in the legislature has been primarily attributed to the party’s history and Mavoungou’s role in said history; it is a direct descendant of the defunct West African Revolutionary Forces of Guinea (WARFOG). WARFOG was the organized militia that fought in the Guinea Revolution for the liberation and eventual establishment of Magaallo as a sovereign state free from Belgian occupation [WIP: read on about the history of Belgian-Magallese relations, the nation’s period of colonialism, and the subsequent conflict known as the Guinea Revolution in the nation factbook]. 

Other parties represented in the NC include the United Civic Front (UCF), the Catholic Union Party of Magaallo (CUP), Oduduwa United (ODUWA), the Magallese Islamic Congress (MISC), the Reform for Magaallo Party (RfMP/RMP), and the Garden Party (GP/Garden) [WIP: read on about national party histories and ideologies in the nation factbook]. To compete with the growing power of the NRC, the centrist-aligned parties UCF, ODUWA, RfMP, and Garden vote on legislative measures under a political coalition called the Coalition of Independent Parties for Progress (CIPP). As one, CIPP is the second-largest representative body in the legislature. The parties lead the NC as follows: 

NRC (91 seats) UCF (45 seats; CIPP) CUP (19 seats), ODUWA (18 seats; CIPP), RfMP (15 seats; CIPP), MISC (14 seats), GP (11 seats; CIPP)

The remaining 7 members of the NC are independent of party affiliation. CIPP makes up 88 representative seats total, just tailing the NRC.
