New Amestris is a fast growing nation with an established record of wartime victory. While an elected government exists, it operates subservient to the nations military. It's capital is located in Central City. The nation has an extensive railroad network for freight and passenger transportation. Each city has a well developed rail-centric public transportation system. The nation has a large manufacturing industry focused on steel and munitions production.

The military is organized in a swiss-style militia system, with the majority of its forces maintained in a reserve capacity. A full air force, and sizable armored reserves are maintained, to be quickly expanded in wartime. No gun control laws exist in the country, arms and ammunition are provided by the government, and can be freely owned and carried without restriction.  The country avoids wars and within the confines of international alliances, practices armed neutrality.
