Speaking of being realistic

Just an observation

In RP a lot of people, mostly new players, get yelled at for “being unrealistic”, either with their land claims, economy, military stats, or war victories and whatnot. So I assume that more experienced RPers would generally uphold being realistic in as many aspects of RP as possible.

So when I look at the RP map of Europe, specifically Central Europe have to ask. What the actual [redacted] is this? Just have a look for yourself:

No one can possibly convince me that this is in any way realistic. Just how does this end up being the case? Logistically, in real life this would be near impossible to rule properly and functionally.

So when the RPers bash all the new players for being “unrealistic” and over inflating their GDP or military, or claiming too much land, why do they stay silent about this? This cannot possibly be realistic.

Before I finish, I would like to say that I’m not taking shots at anyone in particular, or anyone who owns land in this picture for that matter. I’m just observing something I see and wondering: why the double standard? That’s all, don’t take this badly.

I believe roleplay land, gdp, military, etc. shall be completely determined by the in-game statics of your nation

If you mean solely the "broken" states, that has happened a lot during World history, specially in Europe, so I'd say it's more than normal.

If you mean the terrifying exclaves, yeah true, bordergore kinda wild there in Europe ¯\_(ツ)_/

are you even an officially recognized RP state? Last I checked your land is held by others

I can explain to you what happened in DMs (Messages).

There is a method to the madness here.
I know that cuz I kinda caused it.

real life in-game pnw stats are not nearly as detailed as they should be - there is hardly any "quality" involved - merely quantity

That's actually, unironically, completely realistic. That's literally what Germany looked like, and how it was (more or less) politically for thousands of years before Prussia Unified Germany.

You talking to me? Cause I’m fairly sure I’m on the map.

If you mean the terrifying exclaves, yeah true, bordergore kinda wild there in Europe ¯\_(ツ)_/

Thanks for helping me clarify. Yes, I do mean mainly the crazy exclaves and whatnot, that doesn’t seem very realistic to me.

Also borders change many times over centuries. Using modern borders isn't really a good idea for maps and making new countries because they always end up changing. Not a matter of it, but its a matter of WHEN.

Bavaria had exlaves at one point

to be fair, Germany has, when disunited, always had some sort of higher political entity making governing easier for them
