New Vilania, officially the Federative Dominion of New Vilania, is a country located in West Africa with some territory in southern Africa and the Atlantic Ocean. It is one of fifteen independent states in Africa and one of four in West Africa, and is one of the eight nations that make up the Victorian Commonwealth. It spans the territories of Ghana, Togo, Benin, Liberia, Cabinda, and the island of Annobon. New Vilania is bordered by the Republic of Osmans to the east, the Sedrosian Empire to the north, Kolakia to the west, and the Atlantic Ocean to the south. New Vilania’s administrative capital is New Vilania City, and its ceremonial royal capital is Kingsbury. The largest city and metropolitan area is Hamilton. The official and most widespread language is English, which is spoken by almost all New Vilanians. Spanish and Italian clock in at second and third in terms of prevalence. The official religion is Catholicism, which is practiced by over 80% of New Vilanians.
There have been four different independent Vilanian states since 1243. Prior to that, the land known as Vilania was inhabited by several different clans. However, in 1243, the Dacia clan unified all of Vilania into one kingdom under their control. An absolute monarchy lasted until 1807, when an elected Parliament was formed, moving the country to a constitutional monarchy. At this point, the Kingdom of Vilania was renamed the Dominion of Vilania. This system continued until 1935, when an anti-monarchist coup of the government failed. However, it didn’t stop there as a six-year long civil war erupted. Eventually, the republicans won in 1941, setting up the Republic of Vilania. This period in Vilanian history was marred by one corrupt authoritarian government after another. It fell in 2009 after a three-year long civil war was won by monarchists. On June 22, 2009, the Federative Dominion of New Vilania was formed as the constitutional monarchy was restored. This is the fourth and current Vilanian state.
New Vilania’s current government is a constitutional monarchy with the king as the ceremonial Head of State. The current King is Alexander V of the Dacia family. The real power is vested in the elected government. The top executive official is the President, the Head of the Nation. The current President is Kenneth Watkins. New Vilania also has a Prime Minister, who is Head of Government. The current Prime Minister is Andrew Wilkinson. The chief judiciary is the Supreme Court, which has 11 justices who can serve for up to 40 years. Elections for the office of President and both houses of the National Parliament are held every four years. Every two years, the Legislative Assembly, the lower house, elects the Prime Minister.
New Vilania is one of the world’s least corrupt countries, scoring a “Very Clean” on the Corruption Index. Elections are free and fair, with no accusations of rigging in any elections that have been held in the Federative Dominion. Political freedom is generally high, although there is a dominant party system currently in place, it is fully democratic. Civil rights, freedom of the press, and opposition to the government are allowed to exist without fear of suppression.
Geographically, New Vilania covers over 200,000 square miles of land in West Africa. The mainland is made up of the territories of Ghana, Benin, and Togo, while Liberia is owned as an exclave, and Cabinda and Annobon Island are autonomous territories. The country’s climate is a hot, tropical one, with high temperatures year round, and is dominated by tropical savannas and forests. New Vilania is populated by over 75 million people, which gives it an average population density of about 370 people per square mile.
Economically, New Vilania is a free market-based capitalist economy with very low government regulation and low taxation. Government intervention is minimal, allowing for free flow of goods and services. The country is ranked as “Very Easy” on the Ease of Doing Business Index, and economic freedom for the average citizen is very high. The national currency, the Vilanian Dollar, is roughly at parity with the Orbis Dollar. The country’s GDP, which has grown in each of the last 17 years, currently sits at $2.207 trillion, which gives New Vilania a GDP per capita of $29,187. Median annual income is $25,448. New Vilania scores a “very high” on the Human Development Index, and income inequality levels are ranked as “medium” by the Gini coefficient. Very few citizens live in poverty and life is generally affordable.
New Vilania’s demographics are unique for its location, as although it is in Africa, about 75% of Vilanians are of European descent. English is the largest ethnic group, followed by Spanish, Italian, and Slavic. The largest racial minority is Africans, which make up about 12% of the population. There are also significant mixed-race and Latin American minorities. Religiously, 83% of the population practices Catholicism, New Vilania’s official language. A further 12% of the population belongs to other Christian denominations. Jews are the largest religious minority, and there is a small amount of atheists and non-religious people.

I have nearly as many people as you now but they make only 9k a year
GDP of 2 trillion huh. Very realistic. Very very realistic especially considering you own the extremely wealthy Togo, benin and Liberia.
I mean I do have a bunch of diamonds and gold in Ghana, Togo, and Liberia, plus a significant amount of oil in Cabinda, so I wouldn’t say it’s that unrealistic.
Yeah but considering how the territories are newly acquired and how these territories are known for being quite poor irl (def below 500 billion dollar combined GDP), it doesnt make sense that even with inflation the GDP is 2 trillion which is over twice mine despite me owning relatively wealthier territories and having nearly twice the population. Maybe something around 600-700 billion would be more realistic. Additionally the HDI is just crazy considering how most of your land is in sub-saharan africa.
It’s 2099 not 2024, things can (and in IRL they very likely will) change for the better
