May 1, 2097, below; Belarusian moving behind the 3.5km border
Following threats from the Soviet Federation that were labelled as ‘peacekeeping operations’ that were prevented from close allies, the Korean SPG and the Serdosian Empire, a new clause in the infamous Treaty of Greater Minsk has been signed between the Tsardom of Belarus, the Soviet Federation and the GEDO which states, ‘Demilitarisation of the Belarusian-Soviet border, all paramilitaries, militias, and other forms of private/public military companies from both parties are to exit the area and keep the border demilitarised. The demilitarisation will be a 7 km wide strip along the border (3.5 km on each side)’. Response has been neutral. Army and air force re-budgeting revaluation The God given nation has been under foreign threat and imperial swines have been trying to intimidate the nation and her people for far too long. For this, the Ministry of War and Defence along with the Ministry of Defence of the British Empire, a close ally and fellow GEDO member, have evaluated the budgeting of the Imperial Guard and the Imperial Air Force. Simply put, the defence budget has had a huge rise, now taking up 6% of the GDP (OB305.6 billion). To help fund this, a severe cut on the already strained welfare budget has been done, with less money on benefits and healthcare. The funding for the Imperial Guard (ground force) increases as more and more weapons and vehicles continue to be mass produced in factories. A new law also states that prisoners sent to the Reabilitavać camps now have the chance to choose to either stay/go to camps to work in hard and harsh labour, or join the army. Further propaganda campaigns have made the total number of active soldiers numbering around 350,233 men. A bigger reserve force has been growing thanks to the Labour force. In a drastic turn, the nation has been slashed in half and many jets, not including bombers, have begun to be disseminated to form a much smaller air force. The budget however has gone to producing anti-aircraft, anti-tank/vehicle and other similar weapons. The nation hopes to hold the largest and modern artillery armoury in Europe. Further semi-industrialisation To help for the protection of the motherland, further semi-industrialisation has continued within the nation, mostly in Gomel, the industrial city. Most factories are being made for the military, while others are producing synthetic fuels and other materials as well as textiles and electronics for international release. A law has been passed which limits the number of factories and ‘cheap’ housing being built in the capital and largest city, the City of Minsk. With these industrialisation efforts, many have been moving away from small rural villages to find work.
