Deputy Prime Minister Kristian Locke and half of the Cabinet tendered their resignations with immediate effect, in protest over the Prime Minister's indication that he was going to pursue the Controversial proposal despite the tragic outcome of the clash of protestors. The Prime Minister stated that “It is unfortunate that the Labour Party cannot see that the people have spoken and polls clearly show that this is the direction that they want the country to move in.”

Although the Deputy Prime Minister had an audience with the King just prior to the announcement, what was exactly said between the Deputy Prime Minister and the King is unknown, but sources in the Palace have leaked that the King had urged the Deputy Prime Minister and the Labour ministers to remain in office until a replacement could be named to avoid a crisis, but that the Deputy Prime Minister had indicated it would be Impossible under the current circumstances.

The Home Minister was swift to state “If the Labour Party cannot work with us to build a better future for the Kingdom, then are they truly representing the people they say they serve?”

The harsh remarks by the Home Minister were not popular with everyone, including among his own party. Foreign Minister Kristina Naufahu was the first of the Conservative party to criticize the Home Minister's statement, citing that “It does no service to the Nation to alienate it's people for disagreeing with such polarizing world views and only serves to fracture the diverse unity that has made this country rich.”

As of yet, no statement has been made by the Prime Minister.

Protocol dictates that the Democratic Government must exhaust all options to resolve it’s situation before any member at any level of government can request an intervention via Royal Prerogative, with the exception of exigent circumstances such as a matter of National Security, the prevention of the loss of lives on behalf of the Government, or severe incompetence by the duly elected government.

However, with the current vote of No Confidence, the Government can and has requested the dissolvement of Parliament by the King in order that Snap elections may be held to reform the government and cabinet. This process is presently in motion and it is expected that an election Will be held over the next few days.

At present the Prime Minister and what remains of his Cabinet remains in position to effective continue to administer the government and keep it running in good order.
