And may she Rest in Peace
Today we honour a terrible loss. Queen Elizabeth Alexandra Mary, officially Elizabeth II, by the Grace of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and of her other realms and territories Queen, Head of the Commonwealth, Defender of the Faith, has ascended to the heavens to join the realm of God. She was 96 years old.
Queen Elizabeth II ascended the throne in 1952, 70 years and 214 days ago, making her the longest reigning monarch in British history, and concerning its original power, the last monarch of the true British Empire. She oversaw a period of immense social reform, especially on the front of women's rights. She led Britain through the Cold War and saw 15 Prime Ministers, from Winston Churchill to the current Liz Truss.
The Queen of The United Kingdom has gone off to see a new world, beyond the plains of our mortal reality. She watches over us from above. From here in Rimskaya, the moment she died, the heavens opened up in tears (legit it started raining right when she died) as the world mourned the loss of the monarch of once the world's most powerful empire.
Charles the III has become the new King of the UK, however, the royal family is otherwise tattered. From here, it may be a rough road for the British state and people. In a time of disunity, and a time of economic and social calamity, the light of Her Majesty has departed at last.
