Grimm is a nation led by His Majesty Cassian Maladrin on the continent of Europe. Grimm's government is a Absolute Monarchy with very conservative social policies. Economically, Grimm favors left wing policies. The official currency of Grimm is the Pound Sterling. At 66 days old, Grimm is an established nation. Grimm has a population of 662,062 and a land area of 7,000.00 sq. miles. This gives it a national average population density of 94.58. Pollution in the nation is almost non-existent. The citizens' faith in the government is at an all-time high with an approval rating of 100%.
Grimm was born from the aftermath of the Collapse, during which the Germans had conquered the United Kingdom and taken a majority of the healthy male population back to the fatherland. This tragic event led to the collapse of the nation, and after a twenty year period of war between innumerable factions headed by ruthless warlords, cruel dictators, and cult leaders (just to name a few), a contingent of would-be soldiers and strict monarchists known as "The Keepers of the Crown" successfully routed a large band of raiders from the Palace of Westminster and made it their base of operations. Two decades have passed since that day, and that group of brave men have become the largest governing body in the United Kingdom, and they continue to grow under the strong leadership of His Majesty Cassian Maladrin.
Each of Grimm's five counties is governed by a council composed of administrative experts and military advisors, all of whom report to the national government. Once a year, citizens are given the opportunity to request the removal of incumbent councilmen in their county. If thirty percent (30%) or more people in a county ask for someone to be removed from office, that councilman will be replaced by someone with similar work experience in their respective field. There are no term limits, but the age limit for local officials is seventy (70) years old. The council can put into effect any laws they see fit, so long as they do not overwrite national laws and receive parliamentary approval.
Grimm's system of government is an Absolute Monarchy at the national level, headed by the Maladrin family. The King has absolute authority over all matters concerning the nation (even at the local level). A supermajority vote of three-quarters (3/4) by Parliament can see him removed and replaced with his nearest of-age kin, or (as a last resort) by the most senior parliamentarian. The modern-day Parliament has no power to put laws into effect (as it did prewar), but instead proposes its ideas to the King where they can be put into effect or vetoed.
Grimm's sociopolitical climate is defined by a firm commitment to preserving traditional Christian values and a strong drive for complete cultural unity in society.
Business - Businesses that do not contribute to the production of exported goods and that purchase all of their materials from the state can be established freely.
Regulation - All businesses, private and state-owned, are subject to strict regulations that ensure the company maintains climate neutrality, provides its workers adequate (but not excessive) compensation, and contributes to accomplishing the goals of the state, whatever they may be.
Property - Private property rights are observed, but land sales are heavily taxed. Land can be leased to the government at either the local or national level in exchange for reasonable compensation, the monetary benefits of which often outweigh selling it outright.
Taxation - The income tax is progressive, and a "wealth ceiling" has been established to prevent any one person from accumulating too much money. Once the ceiling has been hit, profit overflow goes directly to the government. To compensate for this, hitting that ceiling grants you the title of "Expert", and you are put on the waiting list to become a councilman.
Welfare - Any disabled person who has worked in the past will receive the support they need to survive. If they have no family to care of them (and are unable to care for themselves), they will be moved to a state care facility. Everyone is guaranteed the resources they need to survive, so there is no separate "welfare program." If a family cannot afford their basic needs, they can appeal to their designated quartermaster, who will evaluate their income and expenses and adjust salaries accordingly.
Education - Education is funded by the state. After completing primary school, each citizen takes a survey that decides what field of work they will pursue. If a job requires secondary education, it is provided at no cost. A select few people are chosen to participate in the Graduate Program, which prepares them for roles in Parliament or county councils.
Healthcare - Essential healthcare is 100% free, but cosmetic surgery and superfluous procedures are very expensive and only offered by "private", single-purpose practices (see business tab above).
