 The New Kingdom of Sebarial consists of "colonists", though some Earth-based institutions have labeled them as foreign invaders, from the Rosharan star system. The Rosharan system, also known as Greater Roshar, is the name given to the planetary system consisting of the planet called Roshar; one of several amongst others.[1] It comprises thirteen planets, three of which are inhabited, as well as the usual asteroid belt, and three moons for a total of sixteen orbital bodies -- an important number in the cosmere.

 On the planet of Roshar, one of the human kingdoms is known as Alethkar. The kingdom is made up of a collection of Princedoms; each corresponding to a province of land in the kingdom. One of these Princedoms is known as Sebarial and many of it's people have decided to strike out to form a new "colony" or kingdom, independent of their home. This decision to relocate comes down to a few different reasons, but primarily, the planet of Roshar had suffered a great cataclysm in the recent past known as the True Desolation. During and after which, many of the peoples of the Sebarial princedom made the collective decision to seek a better place entirely; to establish themselves as a separate, sovereign state. Thus, having chosen to migrate to this planet in the cosmere, they now look to prosper as a newly independent society to the fullest extent possible.
