Raritania was established on May 11, 2090, during the breakup of Bedland, and ultimately came to replace Bedland. After a few years of independence and expansion, we joined the JGP under TUI, which lasted until the nuclear war of 2098. During that time the country stabilized; there were internal conflicts in 2093 and 2096, but after 2096 the current Constitution was created.
After the nuclear war, Raritania formed the American Union to help keep the United States intact. We had setbacks, like the Iron Pakt invasion of 2101, but in 2104 we defeated the UOI. From 2106-2109 the AU was thr most powerful entity in the world, until the Centralization Controversy resulted in its partial breakup. (Soviet likes to rake credit, but in truth his role was minimal).
Despite the reduction in AU power, the organization survived, and Raritania became the dominant nation in space, landing a man on the moon in 2112 and beginning continuous settlement there in 2114. |

Our land stretches across the plains and the fields of the Midwest in the west, rising to the Appalachian Mountains, before sloping back down to the sea; it is primarily open and agricultural in the west, and wooded in the east. The climate is temperate throughout. We also own Utah, with desert and high mountain terrain, and part of Bengal, with a tropical climate and marshy terrain; and several oceanic islands; and lastly, Raritanian Antarctica, which is almost entirely covered in the West Antarctic Ice Sheet |
