History: Sometime in the 12th century A.D. the village of Entex was founded on the east of the Camberly river in an area now known as Erland. After many years of new settlers, the village had grown into a castle due to its strategic location atop a hill by the river. In 1816 the lord mayor, Sir Patrick Sloane, announced that henceforth the township would be independent of the current nation whose laws and heavy taxes had unjustly starved many of the townsfolk (due to booming populations of major cities and famine in most major fields to the south). He pronounced himself King of the surrounding valleys of Erle and vowed to protect the citizens of Entex. Raids and tax collection attempts ensued by the previous government failed to penetrate the high walls and the strong and healthy defenders of the castle. Many siege attempts failed throughout the following years due to the castle's self sufficiency and inability of armies to gather food from the surrounding fields due to all peasants and stockpiles being safely guarded behind the castle's walls. Eventually attempts to capture the castle were abandoned and it was left in peace.
In 1831, following the dissolution of the corrupt nation Entex was once a part of, anarchy ensued in many of the major cities to the south. A nearby coastal town known as Pentrebane joined Entex to become part of the nation Erland. Over the next few decades Pentrebane became the major trading port in the region and allowed Erland to start up new industries to produce exports and gain income. Farming was abandoned as it was much cheaper to import food from nearby larger nations.
Following rapid population and industrial booms, more cities were settled in the surrounding valleys throughout the 1830s and 1840s.
In 1853 war broke out and Erland was invaded and annexed by a neighbouring country. The oppression and poverty that followed for the next half a century was devastating. Following continuous uprisings in the early 20th century, a rebellion in 1917 led to civil war which was eventually won in 1923.
