History: | Following the tumultuous separation of the nation states of the British Isles, and the subsequent wars that decimated the peoples living on the islands, Grand Commissar William Carter, of the English Social Republic, came to power. Born post strife, Carter envisioned a united state comprising the British Isles, with the strong belief that the future could only be faced together. Over the span of multiple decades, Carter rebuilt the ESR, revitalising the economy and re-industrialising the nation. Using this newfound boom in economic might, Carter began to assist the nearby nations, devoting money, resources and workers to uplift the other states of the British Isles. Of the 5 other nations that would soon come to form the Union of the British Isles, the Cymry Principality was the first to unite with the English Social Republic, now the Anglo-Welsh Commonwealth. Using this boost in population and resources, Carter restructured the British Armed Forces, forming of the Grand Army of the British Isles, Grand Air Force of the British Isles and the Grand Navy of the British Isles. Over the span of multiple years, the Anglo-Welsh Commonwealth gradually shifted the Scottish Union closer and closer into their sphere, until the 2028 Act of Union, uniting the 2 nations as one; the Union of Great Britain. Shortly afterwards, the Kingdom of Ulster elected to unite with the new regional power, fearing hostilities posed by the Triumvirate of Eire. Despite this, only 20 years later did the Triumvirate of Eire join the union, with Grand Commissar Carter finally declaring the existence of the Union of the British Isles as a single political entity. From here, the Union has continued to expand its economy, quickly establishing itself as a leader in Europe, with the Union of the British Isles associating itself with multiple groups, first the Teutonic Order, a Germanic-European alliance, and later the Rohirrim followed by the Dead Rabbits, and finally Carthago; its current sphere of influence. Whilst an overall successful and peaceful nation, the Union has not been without hardships. During the 2058 war against the United States of America lead by Benjamin Netanyahu, a total of 2 thermonuclear weapons were dropped on the capital, London, killing an estimated 350,000, marking it as the single largest loss of civilian life within the Isles. To commemorate the tragedy, Carter commissioned the London Memorial, a gargantuan marble monolith bearing the names of all who had died in the attack. In an effort to protect the British people against further attacks, Carter made the difficult decision to respond in kind, detonating 2 nuclear weapons over the USA, ending the war. |

History: | The British Armed Forces were formed in 2020, following the Act of Welsh Ascension, with the Cymry Principality coming into union with the English Social Republic, forming the Anglo-Welsh Commonwealth. Under this new nation, the armed forces, known as the Grand Army, Grand Navy and Grand Air Force of the British Isles stood as the primarily defensive force dominating the isles for the decades to come. The British Armed Forces are extremely technologically developed; due in part to the low population of the British Isles preventing the use of mass mobilisation, requiring the comparatively smaller force to use more advanced equipment and tactics. |
