The Lost Isles float somewhere off the coast of eastern South America. Due to drifting currents, the exact location of the islands is never known, but citizens are regularly seen in major South American cities, picking up supplies.

The Lost Isles originate in the dreams of an eccentric billionaire, who dreamed of creating his own island, that could float on the world's oceans.
As technology grew more advanced, the billionaire was able to create the original islands as a prototype for the fledgling terraforming technologies.
After a few islands sank, the billionaire was able to refine the process and develop an artificial island that floated, without being anchored to the ocean floor.

The Isles consists of multiple floating islands, each considered a City-State of the Lost Isles. The islands are joined together by a network of bridges, that can be detached and stored, in the case of a bad storm or cyclone.
Each island has a nice beachfront, with palm trees, that quickly leads into a protective forested mountain range, sheltering the middle area of the island. Inland, the forested foothills of the mountain range, give way to a vast plain, with a lake in the middle, fed from rivers leading inland from the mountains. |

The environment is typically tropical in the coastal regions, with a slightly cooler forest climate inland, surrounding and behind the protective mountain ranges. Further inland are waterways and plains, that enjoy a climate suitable for farming, all year round.
Normally floating between the Tropic of Capricorn and the Equator, somewhere off the coast of Australia, there are normally only two seasons. A warm humid summer, from November to April, with a mean temperature of 25.1 °C and a dry winter, from June to September, with a mean temperature of 20.8 °C.
Annual rainfall is on average 2,000 millimetres (78.7 inches), with most of the rainfall being in the summer months of January and February.
Tropical Cyclones, while prevalent in the area, do not generally cause issues, as the nation will adjust it's position away from the destructive centre. |

The Lost Isles is mostly self sufficient, with the majority of resources sent back to and stored within government controlled stockpiles. Citizens can request access to resources, either for free (for example, if they want to convert the resource to something else, to go back into the stockpile) or they can barter/purchase items from the stockpile.
The government extensively uses these stockpiles to export excess resources/items and also as payment in importing any required resources/items, to be added back to the stockpile.
All citizens are provided with food, electricity, water, internet, housing and medical treatment, for free. Furthermore, to encourage citizens to work to better the nation, they all receive a monetary stipend weekly, providing they have worked. This stipend can be used to purchase other items, like books and decorations for their houses, that are not supplied by the government. |

Tourism: Visitors to the nation are restricted to the single island setup exclusively for their use (unless visiting friends/family). This is a new growing industry, for the Lost Isles.
Lumber: Each island has it's own extensive forests, suitable for lumber. These are sustainably managed by the local Forestry Service. The forest is a mix of dark and light hardwood trees.
Meat: Each island has extensive plains, some of which is used to graze cattle and sheep.
Cotton/Wool/Clothing: Not all of the sheep are used for meat. Some are kept for their wool. On some islands, there are also vast cotton fields (in place of grain). These both supply the local clothing industry.
Grains: On some islands, the farmland is setup with grains. These range from wheat and barley, to various types of rice, depending on the island. |
