Rimskaya Abolishes Currency in Milestone for the Revolutionary State

Always good to hear that, such an inspiring song. Good morning folks I'm your host Dimitri, let's get right into it, shall we?

Today's top story is certainly one of great enthusiasm across the country. As of this morning, March 5th, 2098, the Legislature has officially passed the "Resolution to Abolish the Currency Commodity of Formal Exchange". With this new law, the Aureus has officially been removed as the state currency of Rimskaya, to be replaced by, well, nothing!

All forms of necessary welfare are now able to be provided by the state, at least in part due to her ability to trade with the outside capitalist world, which she only does on rare occasion nowadays. The Party recognizes the inherent flaws in this system to meet the goals of the Socialist Revolution, however, these obstacles must remain in place for the forseeable future.

Exchange in the country is henceforth to be conducted via a barter system of direct commodity-to-commodity rate. All forms of currency may be sent in to state banks, after which they will be destroyed; Rimskayan currency shall no longer be accepted at any legal establishments and industries within the country.

For anyone who is a tourist, you need not be afraid, as the law does not ban the usage of international currency. Any international currency obtained by Rimskayans in exchange may be brought to a state bank in exchange for limited amounts of surplus welfare.

We understand this may pose a great interuption to our economic system, as well as our relations with close partners. Nevertheless, we welcome this mew milestone in our venture as the model Socialist state.
