Declaration of sovereignty on a new territory

Today on this great and glorious day, we have made an announcement to tell.

Back in 8th of August last year, we have found an island that we have now named as Jan Mayen. What is this island you may ask? Well, here's some information that we've gather after numerous expedition and research.

Jan Mayen is an volcanic island in the Arctic Ocean and it is about 55 km (34 mi) long (southwest-northeast) and 373 km2 (144 sq mi) in area, partly covered by glaciers (an area of 114.2 km2 (44.1 sq mi) around the Beerenberg volcano). It has two parts: larger northeast Nord-Jan and smaller Sør-Jan, linked by a 2.5 km (1.6 mi) wide isthmus. It's highest point is the Beerenberg a stratovolcano located in the north reaching around 2,277 m (7,470 ft) high.

During one of our extensive expedition we found that the island had one exploitable natural resource, Gravel, from a site named Trongskaret. And during this we also found large deposits of other natural resources such as copper, zinc, cobalt, gold and silver. The expeditions have also discovered high concentrations of lithium and rare earth metal scandium. In total, it is estimated that the amount of copper could amount to 21.7 million tonnes, but other estimates are around 7 million tonnes. License for deep sea mining is now under consideration. And one more thing that our geologists suspected is that there could be a significant deposits of petroleum and natural gas lie below Jan Mayen's surrounding seafloors.

Now to clarify, this island is not going to be fully colonized but instead will be given some level of autonomy under our rule. And with that, this island shall now be called as the Principality of Jan Mayen.
