Following the collapse of Western Europe during World War II, many Irish left a destroyed Ireland in hopes of establishing a new home. Among those, Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair (Rory O’Connor), settled in a remote region of Argentina, isolated from the once flourishing but now ravaged city of Buenos Aires in 1976. Realizing Argentina lacked the power to control the region, Rory carved out a city, Droichead Ãtha, naming it after Drogheda, Ireland. As the regions around continued to decline, Rory continued to expand into them to bring peace. However, in 2004, Rory tragically died in a car accident while evacuating from a major flood, passing the throne of the Celtic Empire to his only son, Ciáran Ua Conchobair (Kieran O’Connor). During Kieran’s reign, the Empire expanded now controlling a vast region of land in South America, including all of Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and parts of Brazil. Following in his father’s footsteps, Kieran has named all cities after Irish cities, strengthen the Irish culture, and revived the language. He has also assumed the name Kiloist II to pay honor to his late father, Kiloist I (known as Kiloist the Brave). Folklore states that Kieran will return to Ireland and restore it as the head of the Empire by laying the crown upon his ancient ancestor who his father was named after, the last High King of Ireland, Ruaidrí Ua Conchobair’s grave. |

Formerly known as Argentina - This country shares borders with Brazil to the northeast, Bolivia, Chile to the west on the other side of the Great Kiloist Mountains. Uruguay and the South Atlantic Ocean on the east, and the Drake Passage separating the Celtic Empire and Antarctica in the south. The highest point in the Celtic Empire of S America is Mt. Ua Conchobair (O'Connor - named in honor of the family the Kiloist's come from) standing at 6,961 metres (22,837.93 feet) located in the Great Kiloist Mountains, while the lowest point, Valley of the Morrigan lays at -105 metres (-344 feet). Several Rivers flow through the Celtic Empire, these include the River Galway, the River Paraguay, the River Uruguay, the River Colorado, the River Ireland, River Salann, Rio Preto, Rio Minho Zezere, Rio Guadiana, and the Abhainn na Airgead. Listed as a mega diverse nation, the Celtic Empire is one of the most biodiverse nations in the world hosting 15 continental zones, 3 oceanic zones, and the Antarctic region. There are over 11 thousand different species known to live in the borders with thousands more unknown expected. |

This nation enjoys a mixed market economy. While there is a large private market, the government monitors and maintains a public market to ensure that the needs of all citizens are met and no one is left unable to live a productive life. There is fishing on the coasts and in the lakes which provide a livelihood for villages, commercial fishing is heavily regulated as to not disrupt the small fisherman or to endanger the fish populations. Renewable energy is the leading source of energy, however there are still sources of non-renewables still used, however are decreasing. This leads to little interest in disrupting nature to search for oil. The economy is largely consumer driven with services making up the largest industry. |

Tourism is a very important industry to both coastal and the resorts located in the mountains, this industry is the largest employment sector in the isolated mountain regions. Very little logging takes place in the forests as citizens protest the destruction of forests for profit. Despite the militaristic history of the Empire, many see the military-industrial complex as weak in power and only support peacekeeping operations, as a result this has freed money up for the arts and entertainment industries allowing the Empire’s youth to grow up being free to express themselves. Medical and healthcare industries are highly regarded as the most important industries and are watched closely by both private and public entities to ensure only the most beneficial research is pursued, leading to many jobs being created in hopes of retaining this high quality. |

Following the original settlement in Argentina, there was a minor dispute with the government leading to a 3 day siege of Droichead Ãtha, Kiloist I, a general of the army and regarded as the hero of the Empire led his forces against the Argentine troops and defeated them despite being outnumbered 15000:1, this defeat unfortunately destabilized the region surrounding Droichead Ãtha, with Argentina giving its support, Kiloist I begin to incorporate the region into the future Empire. Following the collapse of the Argentinian government after the Protest of 1982, Kiloist I took this opportunity to expand the Empire, stating that he was directed by the ancestors and even claims The Morrígan came to him in a dream stating it was his destiny to restore order to Argentina and start his family’s dynasty so that one day Ireland may once again return to prominence.
The Military of the Celtic Empire of South America is known as the Defence Forces of the Empire, it consists of a Navy, Air Force, and Army. Specialized branches exist as well. The Sciathán Fiannóglaigh an Airm (Army Ranger Wing) is named after Ireland’s ARW, and carries out similar operations. There is a Special Forces group named Cosantóir na Mór-Ríoghain (Defenders of the Morrígan) which operates in secrecy but it is understood that this highly trained branch serves as personal protectors of the Ard-Ri na hEireann, combats domestic terrorism, as well as operates in a top secrecy capacity around the globe.
Military service in the Empire is no small thing. It is highly respected among the population due to the standards that all members must adhere to. |
