History: The Federation of Canaria was established in the wake of the catastrophic dissolution of the Empire of Triten. The collapse of the Tritenean Empire, a dominant power spanning parts of Iberia, Occitania, and the Italian Peninsula, is historically attributed to two principal factors: the ascension of an unprepared monarch and the lingering economic and social upheaval following the Great War.

Following the death of his father, Emperor Raigen II—whose post-war reforms had stabilized the economy—Tiberius I was crowned Emperor. His reign, however, would prove to be a short and tumultuous one. Lacking the political acumen of his predecessor, Tiberius I's attempts at economic reform were disastrous. His policies inadvertently triggered hyperinflation, leading to a drastic devaluation of the Tritenean currency and a subsequent rise in commodity prices.

This economic crisis ignited widespread public discontent, culminating in a popular uprising against the monarchy. After a brief but bloody civil unrest, Emperor Tiberius I and the entire royal family were deposed. The once-unified Tritenean Empire fragmented into a collection of disparate successor states.

The people of the Canary Islands, a peripheral but strategically vital territory of the former empire, remained largely sympathetic to the ousted royal family. Following the assassination of Tiberius I by a radical anti-royalist faction, the inhabitants of what would become the Federation of Canaria granted political asylum to the surviving members of the Tritenean royal family.

The exiled royals, including the children of Tiberius I, established a commercial conglomerate that quickly grew to dominate the Canarian economy. This enterprise was led by Raigen III, a direct descendant of the last Emperor. Raigen III's influence soon transcended the economic sphere, and he was elected as the Fifth Chancellor of the Federation of Canaria. His ascension to power was not without controversy; his legitimacy was frequently challenged by media and political figures in the other successor states of the former Tritenean Empire. The Federation of Canaria thus emerged as a unique political entity, defined by its royalist sympathies and its contentious relationship with the former imperial royal family.

The Tritenean Empire had originally named this strategically vital territory "Arborea." However, the Federal Government of Canaria approved a name change to "Canaria" to both honor the native people of the islands and to symbolically move forward from the legacy of the fallen empire, establishing its own distinct identity rather than being known simply as a former territory of Triten.
