History: | In 2020, following the outbreak of economic collapse and COVID-19, along with repression of minority groups, an armed insurgency erupted within the Transylvania region in the Carpathian mountains, demanding self determination. Many other competing insurgencies sprouted up in other areas of the region, and the reigning government was finally defeated after the siege of their capitol ended in mid 2024. After some infighting and international interventions, the region finally stabilized with Madizan Wal emerging as a stable state within Eastern Europe. Now, with aid and a rapid reconstruction coming to an end, the nation faces the challenge of building an economy of scale from scratch and using diplomatic means to expand into nearby lands, and uniting their peoples. |

The mountainous regions are not known for having a lot of arable land, but the plateaus and plains do. There is no current agricultural base, and the government is importing food en masse. Additionally, the presence of lead means that munitions and arms manufacturing is not off the table. While their munitions manufacturing capabilities are currently limited, it is enough to sustain their forces minimally. |
Military | |
History: | The armed forces of Madizan Wal has only been officially established recently, with the end of reconstruction and aid to the region coming soon. From 2020 to 2023, during the civil war, the armed forces of the Madizesé insurgency was largely made up of untrained but battle hardened volunteers, engaging in guerrilla and relatively static warfare within the confines of the mountains. At the start of 2024, with the government failing to contain other insurgent groups, the group managed to muster some better trained units to go on the offensive, participating in the siege of the oppressive government's capitol. After the war, most volunteers went back to civilian life, and the armed forces were established in order to maintain control over their sovereignty. The armed capabilities of the Madizesè military remains quite limited, as the focus of government attention is economic growth and restructuring. |
