The United DiMeo Provinces (UDP) is composed of the capital province of Perdomo and the largely agrarian provinces of Ettan and Aleshchnya. Until recently, the provinces were united as a democratic republic. However, an armed revolt in Aleshchnya has plunged the UDP into a civil war, shrouding the nation in a fog of conflict. Rebel-controlled zones are governed by a wartime military junta known as the Command Bloc, which has declared a global war of independence against the UDP and "counter-revolutionaries, colonial powers, and oppressors of human liberties."
The Command Bloc has proclaimed the occupied and disputed territories as "Free Aleshchnya," asserting control through its paramilitary forces. The inability of the DiMean military to suppress the rebellion has brought the UDP to the brink of political collapse. Despite foreign humanitarian and military aid, the situation continues to deteriorate, and the rebel movement gains ground. While Free Aleshchnya seeks national recognition, its campaign of "global perpetual revolution" has spilled far beyond the borders of the DiMeo Provinces. According to the Free Aleshchnya movement, onn October 8, 2105, garrisoned units of the United DiMeo Defense Force (UDF) stationed in the DiMean Province of Aleshchnya joined a peaceful protest against the national government’s farmland acquisition policies. In response, loyalist military forces were deployed to the area and opened fire on civilians and unarmed soldiers gathered outside a grain distribution center. This incident, known as the "Grain Massacre," is the catalyst for the formation of the Free Aleshchnya movement.
By late 2105, revolutionary forces had seized control of five strategic cities and settlements across the provinces of Aleshchnya and Ettan. These zones of control are are now united as Free Aleshchnya. Revolutionary forces have continued to repel counteroffensives by the UDF while expanding their influence. The temporary military council "The Supreme Command Bloc" has worked to disseminate its political ideology among disenfranchised and oppressed communities, extending its message beyond national borders. Its stated goals transcend national sovereignty, aiming instead to launch a campaign of Perpetual Revolution.
The armed wing of Free Aleshchnya, the Perpetual Revolutionary Forces (PRF), functions as both the military and policing entity within and beyond the liberated territories. Governance in these areas is overseen by the Supreme Command Bloc, a temporary military council that also directs the PRF’s offensive operations.
Free Aleshchnya is simultaneously engaged in a domestic conflict, referred to as the War of Sovereignty against the United DiMeo Provinces, and an ideological struggle against oppressive and tyrannical entities abroad, known as the Perpetual Global Revolution.
The UDP Perspective on the Insurrection
The United DiMeo Provinces and independent sources offer a conflicting account of the events leading to the rise of Free Aleshchnya. While acknowledging the occurrence of peaceful protests in several settlements on October 8, 2105, the UDP attributes the escalation to subversive elements within the officer corps of the United Defense Forces' Aleshchnyan garrisons. According to UDP reports, Perdomo investigators were executing search warrants related to a narcotics investigation at a military base when the situation turned violent. The government claims that the grievances of demonstrators were co-opted by insurrectionist factions after the incident, although it has not ruled out the possibility of shared radical ideologies.
International Response
The UDP military, known as the United Defense Forces, has faced widespread criticism for its slow and ineffective response to the rebellion. The initial failure to contain the uprising allowed militants to seize weapons and territory, forcing the UDP government to rely on foreign military aid and undertrained reserve units. Despite efforts to regain control, the UDP has suffered significant defeats and now focuses on containing further rebel expansion.
International organizations and foreign governments have designated the Free Aleshchnya movement as a violent non-state actor. The PRF has been condemned as a terrorist and criminal organization due to documented human rights violations, war crimes, and alleged connections to narcotics trafficking. Sanctions have been imposed on individuals associated with Free Aleshchnya, further isolating the movement on the global stage.
On January 31, 2107, the Dominican Kingdom was attacked by PRF linked militants, leading to the nation's collapse and descent into anarchy and waring factions. Intelligence sources believe that radical militants and drug cartels in the fragmented Dominican Kingdom are providing revenue and manpower for Free Aleshchnya campaigns. |
