I've been Roland since 1999 or so, though I didn't find P&W until about 2016.  A friend in another game from which I've long since been banished mentioned P&W to me.  The original Enroth was my 2nd nation here-- I originally was a pirate and got bent out of shape because of a mutiny as I was new and didn't understand it was just a standard alliance voting thing.  Though obviously I learned to raid well, which you're not going to learn in a 'top' alliance just looking to boost you quickly to a high tier.  Ironically considering where I was, I also learned a great deal of FA, which is useless now as no one reading this has ever heard of 'Roland.'

Anyway, once I was Roland (my main name around the Internet) here, I joined BK and had a great time on their forums.  Back then, many alliances had forums, and while I won't say I was a troll, I engaged in some good-natured ribbing of people who were too self-serious.

I was having a very good time in P&W, but once I'd been actively doing some gov work here, I realized that I might actually be a leader, or at least a good 2iC or something.  I mean in real life.  And so I applied for a promotion at work, using some IA skills I had learned in Orbis.  And I got it!   And then again, getting a corner office.  Great for me, but bad for P&W as I was swamped with overtime and with real-life meetings and having to deal with real-life employees and their employees.  I have no idea how guys like Velyni balance it, but I could not.

I briefly came back for a few days thanks to COVID, but I couldn't capture the magic of how I originally felt.  I tried a few different things, bounced around a few alliances, but it wasn't the same.  However, I guess the saying "3rd time is the charm" really is true, because I've been back a few months now and am enjoying myself.  Though it's sad that no one uses the OWF anymore.  I made one comment and got a single like, and somehow earned this:

Now I'm Singularity, and I really enjoy it.  They have events, contests, games, discussions, a radio show hosted by Sketchy and Abbadon, some new thing called factions which are like TKR orders though with interfactional and intrafactional events and tournaments.  And the standard contests such as being Raider of the Week.  I won't pretend to be better at raiding than I am, as I've been in Singularity three months and only achieved this once, but at least achieving it once is better than never: f27e5b166978a46a660b76f864e5e328bee09042x472.png
