The Great Sea to the west, large mountain ridges & valleys to the east, massive lush forests to the north. Duvastan has a plethora of different terrain & climates. The rugged northern region (often referred to as "The Emerald Forest)" is covered by massive lush forests & normally sees an abundance of rain year round due to the the Great Sea to the west.
Central Duvastan has large flat valleys often flanked on 1-2 sides by large mountain ridges. Most of the nation's agriculture is located in this region & is famous for its muffins & bagels.
Southern Duvastan offers some of the mildest year round weather on the planet, the Great Sea dominates the western coast of the region with the large mountains to the east that helps regulate the weather year round. Most of the nation's technology & manufacturing sector is located here, the region is famous for its technology sector, boasting private aerospace, large electronic firms & computer processers.
To the southeast, just inland, is the world famous "Redwood Forest" home to some of the largest trees on the planet.
In the far southeast part of the nation lies the barren Black Rock Desert on the east side of the Black Rock mountains. where some of the hottest temperatures ever recorded have been measured.

Most of the nation has a Mediterranean climate. The cool Great Sea current offshore often creates summer fog near the coast. Farther inland, there are colder winters and hotter summers. The maritime moderation results in the shoreline summertime temperatures being the coolest of all major metropolitan areas in Duvastan and uniquely cool compared to areas on the same latitude in the interior and on the east side of the nation. Even the southern shoreline is cooler in summer than most areas in the rest of the nation. Just a few miles inland, summer temperature extremes are significantly higher, with areas being several degrees warmer than at the coast. The same microclimate phenomenon is seen in the most of the southern region, where areas sheltered from the ocean experience significantly hotter summers and colder winters in contrast with nearby areas closer to the ocean.
Duvastan wildfires affect the state yearly. In the south, the "Black Rock Winds" often expand fires and spread smoke over hundreds of miles.
Northern parts of the state have more rain than the south. Duvastan's mountain ranges also influence the climate: some of the rainiest parts of the nation are west-facing mountain slopes. Coastal northwestern Duvastan has a temperate climate, and the Central Valleys have a Mediterranean climate but with greater temperature extremes than the coast. The high mountains, including the Black Rock Mountains, have an alpine climate with snow in winter and mild to moderate heat in summer.
Duvastan's mountains produce rain shadows on the eastern side, creating extensive deserts. The higher elevation deserts of eastern Duvastan have hot summers and cold winters, while the low deserts east of the Black Rock mountains have hot summers and nearly frostless mild winters. The Black Rock desert, with large expanses below sea level, is considered the hottest location in the world; the highest temperature in the world have been recorded here. |

The Duvastani Armed Forces are the military forces of Duvastan. The armed forces consist of 4 service branches: Duvastan Defense Forces (DDF), Duvastan Navy (DNF), Duvastan Air Force (DAF), & Duvastan Coast Guard (DCG).
Each of the different military services is assigned a role and domain. The DDF conducts land operations. The DNF & DCG conduct maritime operations, the DAF conducts air operations & oversees space assets. Special forces operations are overseen by the Joint Special Operations Command (JSOC) which consists of the head of each of the service branches. The DCG is unique in that it specializes in every area of maritime operations, including at sea rescue/recovery & medical evacuation missions & is also a law enforcement agency. |
