Crazy Horse successfully negotiated for Black Hills independence from American rule as per the original agreement made under the Fort Laramie peace treaty years before. The deals and protests went up all the way to Congress, and included the famous Red Cloud, Two Moons, Standing Bear, and American Horse making statements supporting Native American independence for the Cheyenne and Oglala Lakota tribes. Partnered with James H. Cook, a legendary American friend of Red Cloud during the temporary stay on the reservation, the Cheyenne and Lakota were able to successfully defend themselves in front of a congressional onslaught lead by President Ulysses S. Grant, ending with the recognized sovereignty of the Black Hills as sacred land for the Lakota and Cheyenne tribes. The two tribes formed an alliance, founding the nation of the Black Hills, which soon saw many other tribes, such as the Crow, Pawnee, and parts of the Arapahoe join the fledgling nation. The current caffeine fueled leader, Sitting Red Bull, looks to advance the country, while maintaining semblance of the old ways and traditions.
