History: During the Indo-Pakistani war of 1971, most Bengali (de-facto East Pakistani) citizens fled from the southwestern part of East Pakistan to the much safer areas of Kolkata, Tripura, and Chattogram. This led to the area turning into a sort of resting spot for Indian soldiers. Soldiers families later settled here, and formed the Akhand Khulnaiya People's Battalion (AKPB) to help the Indian Armed Forces and the Mukti Bahini to fend off against the Pakistani Armed Forces. After the Pakistanis were defeated and Bangladesh was freed, the southwestern area of Bangladesh was granted autonomy from Bangladesh. A few years later in 1984, the Bangladeshi government decided to give full independence to the southestern region of the country, creating the Khulna we know today.

Officers are also equipped with a Tokarev TT-33 pistol, and special forces have a Milkor MGL to either replace their INSAS or UZI. Unless Sikh, all soldiers are required to wear a Model 1974 Ballistic Helmet. Officers have custom-made caps.

In terms of armoured vehicles, DRDO Arjuns, BRDM-2s, and UAZ 469s are used.

In terms of aircraft, HAL Tejas MK1s, PZL I-22 Irydas, Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-19s, and F4 Phantom IIs are used.
