History: | The History of Fidionia (1826 - 2022) The Beginnings I 1826 - 1839 In the small village of Fide in Southeast England the Fidionian Empire was formed, at the time it was a small unknown settlement unrecognised by many other colonies. Soon it grew in population, amounting to around 500ish citizens by 1830. Not much changed about the nation until later in 1838, Loisen Sealt (the previous leader) passed away, leaving an election for new ruler to be proposed. The debate went on for the good part of a year before finally, Qint Pitter was elected as ruler of Fidionia in 1839. Rivals and Allies II 1842 - 1890 In 1842, Fidionia officially became allies with Prussia (now Germany) and began trading. Later, in 1851 the flag of Fidionia was decided, however the peace would not stay for long, as a threat was coming to the peaceful nation. In 1853 The Dutch declared war on Fidionia, the reason was unclear however it was likely for expansion and resources. Unfortunately the enemy managed to capture nearly a third of the nation’s territory before the Battle of Anguis. The Battle of Anguis took place in Anguis (the capital of Fidionia) in 1862, there was an approximate of 1300 soldiers (nearly a third of Fidionia’ population) fighting on the battlefield that day, and around 900 Prussians. Together they managed to defeat the Dutch army. Soon after the battle the war ended in a peace treaty between the two sides, not much happened after that until… The The Qing Dynasty III 1890 - 1911 In 1890 Fidionia had grown enormously, making up 65% of the British land mass. The country had also spread to a few other uncolonised areas including three small islands of the coast of Japan (these will be important later) and a small area at the bottom of Argentina. However the Qing Dynasty, saw the Fidionians as a threat to their empire. On the 19th January 1896 the Qing Dynasty dropped bombs on the Southern coast of Fidionia, killing over 200 Fidionians. At this point the two Empires declared war on each other, many casualties and many battles followed, in 1903 The Dutch decided to forget the past and become Fidionia’s ally and help alongside Germany and Argentina (Fidionia’s latest ally) to battle the Qing Dynasty. The war continued for many years, in 1902 the battle of Chengdu the Allies managed to push back the chinese forces and declare a victory on the battlefield. Although they had not won the war, the Qing Dynasty collapsed in 1911 and it was all settled. The World Wars IV 1912 - 1969 The Fidionian Empire became allies with Great Britain in 1912, just before the First World War in 1914. When the War began, Fidionia Initially joined the side of the Germans to help their oldest ally, however changed sides when they realised how truly evil the Nazis were, they switched to the Allies and helped fight with their cavalry in 1915. Unfortunately in 1916 Fidionia was occupied by the Germans after an ivasion, luckily this didn’t last for long as its current allies helped to push back the enemy until the Nazis retreated. In 1918 the war ended, however it had worn out the nation and so the suffering continued. Amidst food and home shortages in Fidionia, Great Britain kindly helped supply the population with food and shelter during the crisis. Because of this, Fidionia did not participate in the 2nd World War. At last in 1969 the problems ended and everything returned to normal, with a thriving populous of over 4 million citizens, Fidionia was becoming very successful. The Modern Day V 1981 - 2022 In 1981, The videogame “Mario” released in Japan, remember those islands I mentioned earlier? Well, as the videogame increased in popularity it eventually made its way to those islands and it became a real hit across the whole of Fidionia. Gradually the nation began to release its own video games, War of the Bean, Snake Nation and many more. One day in 2000, a Fidionian scientist named Alexi Robertson thought, “If technology can be used to have fun, surely it can be used for more useful and scientific purposes aswell!” And so the F.I.C.T.S. (Fidionian Experimentation Centre of Technology and Science) was formed. Over the past years a notable technological advancement The F.I.C.T.S. has made includes the environmental exposure feature for VR devices, for example if the experience includes being underwater, it wan physically make your skin feel like its wet, isn’t that incredible! The program is continuing to run to this day, and the population of Fidionia has grown to over 5 Million, and now we are up to present day, what will happen next? |
