The Order of Sol Invictus (Latin: Ordo Invicti Solis) is a large religious-military order in Southeastern Europe. It is located on the Adriatic and Ionian Seas within the Mediterranean Sea. It resides within the Senate and People of Rome. Its Capital and largest city is Aurelianus, followed by Novus Prospectus and Diana. The majority and state religion, the Cult of Sol Invictus plays a major role in the government and has mandatory membership as a requirement for citizenship. The state is 82.6% Roman, 14.1% Illyrii, 2.2% Gallic, and 1.1% Avarian, with 1% no ethnicity disclosed.
The Order of Sol Invictis dates back to July 273 when Vitus Martinus Rusticus, a friend (who would later claim to be adoptive child of, changing his name to Vitus Domitius Rusticus Aeneas) of Aurelian founded the Order as a competitor to the mystery religious tradition of the Cult of Mithras, wildly popular amongst legionaries at the time. Attracting many veteran retired legionaries, the Order would quickly militarise. After the murder of Aurelian in 275, Vitus would proceed to contest the election of Marcus Claudius Tacitus, claiming himself to be the sole legitimate inheritor of the Empire. Unable to provide any sort of evidence towards his claimed adoption, Vitus would come to an arrangement with the Senate in which he would be given a small holding within the Empire to govern, in exchange for a cessation of hostilities in 276, only a few months later.
