The Planes Democracy is a nation build on trust. Many cities, once at war, decided to become friends. They set up a federal government, and soon each city had joined. Named for It's founder and first president, Adam Planes, the Planes Democracy flourished under the peaceful regime.
After 8 years, Adam Planes resigned from office, and at that election, there was the Liberal Gerald Russel versus the Conservative Opal Conte. Russel won in a landslide. Russel was a capitalist by heart, and the nation followed a capitalist path.
After 12 years of Russel as president, a small communist party formed, and aimed to reverse the growing wealth disparity.
That election, which was won by Russel, the communists gained ground. Fed up with Russel's aging ways of ruling and him slowly drifting to conservatism, a few liberals split of and formed the libertarian party.
The next election, several other parties were formed. There were now several candidates. Young Mac Planes, grandson of Adam Planes, won by a landslide, and has held power ever since.

At first the Planes Democracy was a bunch of tiny city states that were constancy at war with each other. For hundreds of years the people fought and the kingdoms crated and betrayed alliances and fought many wars. One of these wars was the Purple War, in which the king of Macacheese, a city state, conquered through force and united through diplomacy , the may city states of Norta Planes, the area in South America where the nation is located. The king of Macacheese, Doug Malachese, died and was replaced by Zack Malachese, who was overthrown after making taxes too high. They replaced the monarchy with a democratic system modeled after the USA.
