History: The land that Terra Primus rests upon was purchased by the Masanao Corporation in 2028 from the U.S. government. A geological survey [2029] found the land to be rich with an assortment of minerals. The company decided [2031] to extract these elements and sell them on the national markets [2035.] This continued until the year 2041, in which the U.S. government collapsed, when the company decided to relocate many of their employees on-site. Without government oversight, living conditions deteriorated until 2051, at which point employees were treated closer to indentured servants than the willing workers they had once been.

Discontent began in 2051 and escalated until 2053. During which a meeting was held between employee leadership and corporate. Promises of improvements were made in exchange for continued loyalty and labor. These promises would never be fulfilled by the corporation. Tensions continued to escalate until a rebellion would begin in the year 2054.

The conflict would last from December of 2054 until February 2056. During the less than two years of conflict, approximately 200 would die from violence related to the rebellion. Approximately 1,100 would perish from desiccation, starvation or malnutrition. Aside from the fighting between security forces and rebels, many died due to negligence. Corporate would often delay shipments of vital resources to civilians to pressure the general population into giving up the radicals or cause the radicals to go into hiding to prevent the suffering. Ultimately, this would culminate in Masanao losing all control over the situation. Many of the security forces lived on-site and suffered from the decisions to delay supplies with the general public.

Initially, only three settlements had seceded from the Masanao Corporation. Over the following three months, the rebels of those three cities chose to liberate the remaining settlements in the area. These rebels, supported by the former security forces, had an easier time liberating the remaining four settlements the Masanao Corporation owned. The collapse of the seventh settlement signaled to the corporation that they were no longer trusted nor wanted in the area. They silently withdrew from the area along with all of their funding.

The nation of Terra Primus was founded in 2057 as a Constitutional Republic. Four governors and one elected representative chosen through popular vote would guide the country. The first elected representative, ironically named Emperor, was a man named Nancho who helped lead the liberation movement. Under his guidance, the great nation state would expand tremendously. Armed forces, espionage, and even recognition as an official nation state by a coalition of other nation states.

Unfortunately, growing pollution as well as a propensity for foreign intervention in foreign conflicts caused approval to decline. Many feared that they would live through a repeat of the Masanao Corporation, so they took up arms once again. The armed radicals grew in strength until the year of 2073, during which they launched a well coordinated plan across the country. Crippling critical infrastructure, plunging society into chaos and eventually abducting Nancho.

In the aftermath of the abduction, Nancho II took it upon himself to fill the mantle left by his father. National security was improved by improving and extending the duties of the national guard. Mandatory military service was implemented for the men of the nation. An anti-corruption campaign was launched alongside OPERATION: Truth Serum, which ousted the General of the Army was a co-conspirator along with many lower profile individuals. With the information gained, the national guard went on an offensive against the rebels.

Terrain: The landscape of Terra Primus is one of beauty, despite what the pollution index claims.

The northern shore is beautiful during the summer months and spans the entirety of the nation. Foothills with thick forests cover the edges of civilization, almost as if in anticipation for the national pride of the region. Mt. Strato is the largest mountain in the world due to its elevation of 12,000 meters. For reference, the Marianas Trench is roughly 11,000 meters deep and Mt. Everest is 8,000 meters tall. This is contrasted to by the, admittedly, underwhelming largest basin of the nation. Black Rock Basin, formerly a site for a multitude of coal mines, is only a meager 412 meters below sea level.

Climate: With the exception of summer, Terra Primus is engulfed by a bitter cold all year. During winter, the northern shore freezes and snow storms batter the nation. In the autumn and spring months, rain is an extremely common occurrence. Periodically, the iconic Black Rock Basin will flood due to high rain fall.

Fishing has seen major success with access to the great lakes to the north. Canneries make up a significant portion of our GDP. This only occurred once most of the farms ended up shutting down due to a lack of available space hindering their profits.
Military
History: The armed forces of Terra Primus were technically established in 2060 following a violent revolt. Most of them were former security agents that had lost family in The Long Famine that lasted from 2054-2059.

The roots of the armed force of Terra Primus [AFTP] can be traced back to the year 2010 in which the settlements were founded. Back then, they served as a police force to prevent crime. Over the following two decades, they became more militarized to counter more aggressive criminal activities. They became an official P.M.C. group in 2042 after a sudden spike in violent extremism left the C.E.O. of the company responsible for the settlements dead. From 2042-2051, they became more intrusive and authoritarian until they plateaued [2051/2052] by being authorized to execute people in the process of committing crimes.

Thankfully those times have passed and our military is now made up of volunteers who want to defend our country and liberate the other settlements that have been historically oppressed.
