History: Following the succession of Burgundy, the Nederlandse peoples in the Lowlands began to emigrate to Noord-Duitsland, and Denemarken. Over time, a Duchy was created as a Nederlandse enclave within the Holy Roman Empire. As the HRE started to collapse, the Nederlandse peoples broke away creating the nation of Kouderhagen under Lunes von Kampioen. As the Nederlandse began to assimilate with the local Noord-Duitsland and Denemarken, causing a new culture within the Duchy, becoming Neder-Duitse, a new, and true mix between Nederlandse, Noord-Duitsland, and Denemarken.

Military
History: After the destruction of the Holy Roman Empire, Duchal Kouderhagen created its first standing army, known as the Koninklijk Leger von Kouderhagen. As the German people began uniting, the army started to further its army prowess so that it would be protected from the German state. This caused the formation of Kouderhagen Marine, which helped protect the Kouderhagen mainland, saving annexation by the German Empire.

However, by the 1870s Germany put extreme pressure onto Kouderhagen, and when war broke out, the heavy losses in the De Lage Valleien would cause a chain reaction of ultimately ending in a retraction from global politics. After signing peace with their old German brothers, they chose to become neutral for betterment in the global community to better their standing, and for protection from world powers.

To this day the army is now considered absolutely needed to save the people of Kouderhagen. Now it's neutrality is used to protect its people from any further unnecessary deaths, and as such is used solely for defense, and in defense of its neighbors.
