REPUBLIC OF GREENLAND'S TROOPS RETURN HOME, HAILED AS HEROES

Following the short conflict with the nation of New Bermudas, which lasted through August 18-21st, the forces sent to deal with the New Bermudan threat have arrived back in port in the capital district of Greenland on August 25th. The ISS Rorke's Drift (our flagship) received its trial under fire and successfully downed over 12 New Bermudan planes, also destroying a small New Bermudan corvette. The ISS Swift Justice, ISS Victory, and ISS Guardian also performed exceptionally well, crippling a New Bermudan shipyard and overwhelming their shore defenses with flurries of surface-to-surface missiles. A minesweeper ship involved in the operation managed to limp home after continuing its duties despite taking heavy fire, damaging the engine and killing 15 crew members. The rest of the flotilla suffered minimal casualties, with only 4 KIA. 

The ground forces, who arguably served the most valiantly during the war, suffered 348 dead, of which 219 were in the 3rd Infantry Division, though the ROG's forces took the lives of some 2,800 men, not including those killed in the missile attack after they left. Upon coming home, a parade was organized, and over 50,000 people attended, including President Hayes, who ordered the creation of an official military ribbon for the New Bermudan conflict. The president could be seen saluting the 43,500 men as they marched down the street to the capital building, alongside his chiefs of staff. The air forces who served in the conflict later did a fly-over at a baseball game on the 29th, eliciting massive cheers from the crowd.

President Hayes later toured the ISS Rorke's Drift once the minimal damage done to the massive super cruiser had been repaired, shaking hands with the crew. He later awarded Captain Richard Stevenson, who commanded the ISS Tesla, the minesweeper that survived against all odds during the battle, with the Naval Distinguished Service Medal and promoted him to Rear Admiral Lower Half.
