Dutch Republic Joins War in Uchama

Victoria and the Sedrosian Empire have begun a military operation in Uchama and The Melon, with the end goal to restore Victorian dominance over metropolitan France. At first, this worried the Dutch government, as the Dutch have French Flanders with Lille and Dunkirk in their possession. For this reason, the Dutch Republic and Victoria have signed the Treaty of Calais, which hands over sovereignty of the Calais Exclave over to Victoria, in return for the signing of an MDoAP and Victoria lifting it's claim over French Flanders.

President Visser applauds Victoria's willingness to negotiate, and has decided to immediately honor the newly signed MDoAP. The Dutch Republic has deployed the following divisions into the war against Uchama and The Melon: 2e Pantserdivisie (20,000 soldiers), 3e (Gemechaniseerde) Infanterie Divisie (22,000 soldiers), 1e Luchtlandingsdivisie (18,000 soldiers) and the elite Panterdivisie "President" (20,000 soldiers.) This makes the total amount of Dutch soldiers deployed reach an all time high of 80,000.

Bombing raids are being conducted over enemy territory, and the naval peacekeeping missions in the North Sea have ended. We think that the anti air systems on the border will keep enemy bombers away, but we cannot be sure. For this reason people in the border regions are advised to stay in airraid shelters for a while while this conflict lasts.

Together with it's allies, the Dutch Republic will not lose, and will continue to spread freedom and democracy over the world, one way or another.

The Foundation of the Dutch National Space Agency

The Dutch Republic has reached another milestone today, as the Dutch National Space Agency was officially opened in Groningen. This is the next step to keeping the Republic in it's major power status. On the 10th of November, a huge opening ceremony was held, attended by President Visser, Prime Minister Kuijpers and most of their cabinet members to celebrate this special occassion.

A new post in government, the Minister of Galactic Affairs has been created, and it's portofolio added to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is now the Ministry of Foreign and Galactic Affairs. The minister will be the head of the Dutch National Space Agency, while it's day to day running will be done by an expert.

Although the DNSA has been classified as a military institution, it will for the time being only be used for civilian purposes like research and weather prediction. Employees of the company will be entitled to veteran benefits after a certain amount of years of service to the agency. It is the goal to launch sattelites into space soon, but an expected date has not been pinned.
