The Glorious Premier Tiberius of Rimskaya has agreed to let us publish a private interview with one of our correspondents, in which he reminisced about the world that he and his family grew up under.

It was hardly anything like it is today.

Back then, Rimskaya was essentially part of a family of nations: that is, she was an awkward, rambling elder. Rimskaya was always the oddball given her ideology, and her undying loyalty to the working class at the time.

The world was so much more... magical back then. Great beings roamed the land and did battle with each other. Mysterious anomolies came and went brining both prosperity and destruction in their wake... more destruction than prosperity of course.

It was such a time that a lot of Rimskaya was actually rather religious in regards to these entities. Worship was not an uncommon practice, and it was often a public affair as much as it was a private one. The only exceptions were of course when religious practice became violent and detrimental, upon which the state quickly cracked down on it, as it should.

Practices and relations between nations were so much more open and friendly, even in the most bitter of rivalries. Dialogue was as diplomatic as it was casual and cordial. Nations could discuss and maintain their militaries, projects, and ideologies freely without, you know, an asteroid's worth of nuclear weapons being dumped on them.

It was through this environment that Rimskaya met her best and longest-lasting allies, Luna in particular. In the community as it is today, I highly doubt that could ever happen given the conditions of international relations.

Today's world stage is exactly as the nation-state system was bound to make it: a rancid, toxic cesspool of combat, disconnection, abhorrent behaviors and actions, all to make the world unwelcoming and violent without any sense of understanding or politeness.

In this constant bloodbath of idiocracy and barbarianism, the world has lost the magic that I grew up under. No more do those wonderous, magestic beings freely surf these November autumn skies, instead all that does is ICBMs and fighter jets. No more do nations forge alliances for cooperation and advancement, but for destruction and aggression agaisnt those who do not appear exactly like they are.

It is, in all senses, exactly as the nation-state system was predicted to become by the forefathers of Socialism.

So, Rimskaya has resolved that, while we wish to make ourselves known and respected again, the world is clearly not going to welcome her back to the table. So we shall not bother trying to barge in.

Why would we want to be a part of such a disgusting caricature of what we used to think was beautiful anyways?

Eternal Glory to the Glorious Premier Tiberius Democraticus, who's wisdom and coridality will bring Rimskaya into an era of peace and prosperity!

Ah. Well-said. I do miss the old times too, when I could do casual war crimes without worrying about an international coalition every few seconds. And when I could have whatever ideology I wanted. Times have changed, though... The community has bled out "magic", as you so say, for realism - which is comparably better but less toxic than what it once was when transitioning. However, to you not being welcomed I heavily disagree. I preside to you, The Gambia, a place where I may be able to protect the Rimskyan State. I will await for a response.

Of course, you may have to change the current ideology of Rimskya to Democratic Socialism so that I can properly defend you with reason, or at least make the markets free.

hey man, rping since 2065. If you wonder, rp has become much better today. Was concerned during the 80s and early 90s but now it seems like things are changing.

All things considered, the quality of rp has improved massively since the 2080s, although still not as good as the golden age which Bruhsam and I were a part of
