Iberian Government announces 2098 reforms

With the Global Recession beginning to come to a close and several countries almost returning to normal, the Supreme leader of the Government, Andres Varela, has begun to announce the first half of reforms set to completely revamp the Iberian quality of life by the turn of the century. Many of these reforms have already begun to be implemented and will be in full effect by March of this year. The first big one being the creation of states within Iberia, making it easier to rule and solve the individual needs of the people. Another major purpose of these states is to allow for Parliamentary elections when the Parliament is brought back later this year. Another major reform in the nation is the utter ban on all forms of extremist ideologies such as Communism and Nationslist Socialist views, any party that holds extremist views such as these two groups is henceforth and forever prohibited from participating in government activities (though they can endorse other parties).

Under the watchful eye of the government, Iberia has managed to shake off most of its evil past and now may blossom into a proper Republic just as was promised by the Varela regime during the uprising.

The Iberian Catholic Church grows in influence

In times of trouble there has always been one thing that has united the people.

In the wake of the brief but extremely deadly war against the Olsztyn state, an estimated 630,000 new people have joined the Catholic Church in Iberia, a staggering number in such a short period of time. Following this, the Government has decided that due to the sheer amount of Iberian citizens that believe in this church (about 56% of the roughly 41 million people in the Iberian State), it shall endorse Catholicism as the official religion of Iberia (the church is also able to provide some legitimacy to the government and soon to be Republic, and though it is the official religion, the government and church respect choice, and do not mandate it.

Citizens show discontent with the Italian pope

As religion begins to show itself more in the lives of the people and accusations about the Italian pope begin to surface, many Catholics in Iberia have begun to voice their discontent with the Vatican.

Civilian view of the Italians was already poor due to their close relations with APSA and the soviets as well as their holding over Valencia City, but this has simply made the situation worse.

Developments will be given as they come

Gloria a la patria! Btw, can we adopt the Iberian Catholic Church as official religion?
