The Constitutional Convention Starts in the Pocono Socialist Republic

The Pocono Socialist Republic, also called the PSR, is one of the many nation states that came out with the collapse of The Republic of Appalachia. they are able keeping their small territory in the northeast and can maintain power,, creating stability. With their nation on the rise, Temporary President Woody Sinclair as well as other political and union leaders decided it is time for a new constitution to create a good government structure that will be best for the people and the nation.

The Constitutional Convention is taking place right now, being able to televise all of the proceedings and debates for the people to see. With plenty of political factions from Marxis-Leninist, Libertarian Socialism, Anarchism, and more, there is plenty of debate and planning of what the constitution should consist of. The people are debating themselves as well, though there are plenty of immigrants from across the world as well as refugees from the old Appalachia Republic that is making opinions diverse on the matter. One thing is for sure is the people will be the ones that will hold the majority of power in their society and government.

Though it is not set in Stone, it looks like their government will be decentralized, with the majority of power will be in local workers councils. Rights that will be seen as natural to them will be Respected. These rights are most Likely going to be in the constitution, including Free Speech, Right to association, Freedom of the press, freedom of religion, freedom of defending yourself and to be armed, and power in the work place. There will be more as discussion goes on and more gets in place.

This convention should take around 2-3 weeks it, but any topic that is heavily debate could slow down the process. The citizens of the PSR themselves need to approve this constitution by 2/3 majority, otherwise it is back to the drawing board. The people are hopeful for their new constitution as they are seeing it be created right in front of them, and no one is being left in the dark.
