Vault 49 is a highly advanced nuclear bunker town made by Vault-Tec in collaboration with House Industries & RobCo. located in the Great Smoky Mountains. Its culture is predominately a revivalism of Old Cherokee & Mississippian Culture with Egyptian & Greco-Roman Neoclassicism influences and their own unique innovations.

On October 23rd, 2107, 30 years after the bombs dropped, the residents of vault 49 used their 3 vault door system to send heavily armed recon & settler parties to pacify the region & establish settlements and outposts ahead of Reclamation day in 2113. They established 12 Settlements in the Tennessee River Basin & The Smoky Mountains.
