The nation of Suzerain, located in the heart of Western Europe, was founded in 1625 by the great unifier Alaric I von Draumstadt. Amid widespread chaos and decline among neighboring regions, Alaric forged a powerful central state from fractured provinces. He established the Sovereign Principality of Suzerain on the principles of national unity, order, and strength. His founding document, De Ordine Publico, laid the ideological foundation of the Suzeraini state, championing duty to the nation, cultural cohesion, and the sanctity of sovereign rule.
Through the 18th and early 19th centuries, Suzerain entered a phase of consolidation. As monarchies and republics around it faltered, Suzerain expanded territorially and institutionally. The creation of the Imperial Directorate, a central body tasked with preserving the national character, ensured efficient governance and cultural unification. During this time, education, language, and customs were standardized to reflect a single Suzeraini identity.
The 19th century, often referred to as the Century of Defiance, saw Suzerain resist the ideological infiltration of liberalism and democracy. Under Supreme Commander Magnus Volkenhart, the state enacted sweeping reforms to safeguard national unity. Foreign ideologies were banned, press freedoms curtailed, and the loyalty enforcement body known as the Red Falcons was established to maintain ideological purity. The national motto—"A nation divided in thought is conquered in spirit"—originates from this era.
The transformative Golden Purge (1941–1948) was a pivotal moment in Suzerain’s modern evolution. Spearheaded by the High Council, it sought to remove subversive and disloyal elements from society, academia, and media. Over 100,000 individuals were relocated, re-educated, or neutralized in the name of national preservation. Following the purge, Suzerain experienced a cultural and technological renaissance. The state oversaw great advancements in industry, infrastructure, and science, all oriented toward the glory of the nation.
From the 1970s onward, Suzerain emerged as a model of stability and ideological clarity in a Europe increasingly mired in fragmentation and moral uncertainty. Under the current Eternal Marshal, Dietrich Falstadt, the nation continues to thrive through strict adherence to the Four Pillars of Suzerain: Strength, Sovereignty, Sacrifice, and Supremacy. These guiding principles are instilled from childhood through daily rituals, education, and four years of mandatory national service.
Critics abroad label Suzerain a dictatorship, but within its borders, it is seen as a bastion of resilience and national purpose. As the state celebrates over 400 years of unbroken sovereignty, it remains committed to its founding ideals: the survival of a united people under a destiny shaped by discipline, tradition, and unwavering leadership. |
