History: The modern day People's Federation of Kaelveris traces its roots to a rebellion led by Erik Stahlmark, now Volksfurst, against the bloated and disillusioned Kaelverian Republic. Quickly backed by the support of the people, Volksfurst Stahlmark promised the people stability, security, and prosperity the likes of which the Kaelverian Republic could never attain. Following a bloody civil war, a deep-state purge was enacted by the now victorious Volksfurst Stahlmark against past Kaelverian Republicans.
Deeply popular, Volksfurst Stahlmark enjoys an undisputed reign as dictator over the Federation. Extremely quick to crack down on dissidence, the Federation boasts a powerful propaganda machine and secret police to match. Although there is little to complain about following the success of the newly minted Virit and post-war economic prosperity.
The Kaelverian people are deeply patriotic and nationalistic, and although required to serve by law, many men and women flock to the recruitment offices on the eve of their 18th birthdays to begin their service. The Kaelverian flag can be seen flying from many balconies, homes, and adorned on many backpacks and car bumbers. Of course, a proud banner flies outside each and every government building, hospital, school, bank, market, police and fire station, stadium, airport, pub, cobbler, haberdashery, and veterinarian, under penalty by law.
