History: The country of Polaris was founded in 1994 when rebel Polarians overthrew the oppressive octantis government. The Octans were a far right extremist group who had risen to power and suppressed the native polarians. They forced their religion on them, made them work in labor camps, and persecuted any one who practiced Polarianism. When the uprising happened, polarians vowed to never let their country get that bad again, they ensured fairness for workers, the environment, and every citizen, even the Octans. To this day, Polaris is a socialist democracy that has proportional representation with no voting threshold, meaning every citizens voice is heard. The major party in Polaris is the Polaris Collective, an extreme left wing party who advocates for free healthcare, education, transportation, and a clean environment. The current leader is apart of this party which is the same party who started the revolution. There has been a rise in conservatism with the National Polarian Party (NPP) because of misinformation about octans and has lead to increased tensions between both ethnicities.
