The Colony of Stiltonia is a nation led by Prince Panama Stilton on the continent of South America. The Colony of Stiltonia's government is a Banana Republic with very liberal social policies. Economically, The Colony of Stiltonia favors right wing policies. The official currency of The Colony of Stiltonia is the Dollar. At 25 days old, The Colony of Stiltonia is a young nation. The Colony of Stiltonia has a population of 853,662 and a land area of 12,500.00 sq. miles. This gives it a national average population density of 68.29. Pollution in the nation is a disaster. The citizens' faith in the government is seriously lacking with an approval rating of 3.1986%.
You arrive in the Colony at the personal invitation of Prince Stilton. You accepted... Perhaps with reservations.
You hand-picked a new special advisor from the area for this trip to the remote and isolated colony and boarded the Prince's newest Royal railcar at the last station before the wilderness started. The wilderness seemed to last for ages, but you enjoyed your drink served to you by the modelesque wait-staff with their weird (your advisor tells you that they're regional) hats. At a certain point, the trees strip back from your window as the locomotive comes around a bend and reveals the splendor of the virgin forests and hills the Prince calls his demesne. Your advisor points in the far distance, to where you can see smoke coming from behind some hills. Your new special advisor breaks the silence.
"That's the newest mining operation undertaken in the Colony. My cousins have a blood-feud with the fat owner of the mine."
He looks like he went to spit on the ground and decided against doing so on the lush carpet of the Royal railcar. He gives the athletic blonde bartender cleaning some glasses by the bar a look. He continues in a hushed whisper:
"Now, the Prince has men everywhere, and a police force of rabid dogs he's itching to deploy. My cousin disappeared last week at an environmentalist rally."
He leans back, drinking from his water glass. You take a moment to catch a glimpse of the rural village the train is passing through. Stray dogs are pissing on a wall. A Woman is hanging up laundry. A bus brings workers up to the large gash in the mountain above that must be another mine.
"I grew up in a place like this lot like this a few valleys over. We didn't have the mines back then though. Now my people can't survive like they used to. Nothing gets done without the Prince's approval anymore. The Royal game licenses are impossible to afford for the nomads. The residents in the Capital, Slochin, live the best out of anyone in the region, but it's a trap! Jobs are plentiful in the cities but a lot of people get stuck there."
The talk is brought on a tangent about a personal pet-project by your Minister of Public Planning. He insisted on coming as part of your entourage when he heard about the invitation, saying weird things like "modern vertically-integrated industrial design" and "rural electrification programs" but so far had been ogling the waitress that kept bringing fresh bread to the table and interrupting the conversation more than he had been working productively.
Rain started pouring against the railcar window. Wait, fresh bread? Did that madman Prince really have a bakery on this train? The railcar door opened: introducing three dwarves juggling in jester costumes with a sudden and startlingly loud brass band beginning to play, followed by a waft of fresh bread-air. That answered that question. Your Minister of Public Planning is captivated entirely by the ludicrous display, but your special advisor leans close, earns his paycheck when he leans in and under his breath explains:
" Oldest trick in the book. Bring in a loud distraction and see who reaches for their weapons in a group. Helps you identify threats and potential targets."
You look back to your personal bodyguards, who were supposed to be blending into the delegation adjusting their clothes around their midriffs.
"It's also the perfect time to take unattended intelligence."
You turn back to your special advisor as he points inconspicuously towards his briefcase, which has somehow ended up in the hands of a funny-hatted attendant, who is in the process of exiting out of the railcar.
"I knew they would have a file on me that would get flagged when we went to cross the border. I filled that briefcase with the script from the bee movie, don't worry. I tried to warn the intelligence chief about this before the trip but he pulled rank. I'm glad that the world is becoming aware of the Prince's actions."
You begin to curse yourself for not paying more attention to the personnel file of your special advisor when you hired him. Did he have a background in intelligence? How could he have made it so far from these remote valleys? "Remote" you think. Ha. Now this colony has railways and has started building an airport. You can only imagine how "remote" it was when your special advisor was a boy. Before this region was colonized by this so-called "Prince".
As the rain pounds outside the window, you are beginning to see lights. Probably a part of the latest "rural electrification" plan that you were briefed on. A chime and soft voice tell you that the train has almost arrived.
You look forward to meeting this "Prince" in person...
