History: | The Federation of Loxie, better known as a City-State Federation, came into being in November 2106 Orbis Date. Its story, however, stretches several hundreds of years in the past through the sandglass of time, replete with disunity, war, and, eventually, a march towards unity. What is today Loxie used to be home to a series of different city-states, all ruled by their various princes and princesses, entertaining cultures and priorities. The various city-states would often find themselves pitted against each other in territorial disputes, trade wars, and tussles for resources. Pre-Unification: A Divided Land Before the rise of the Federation, the region was fragmented and politically unstable. Though the city-states were economically prosperous in some aspects, they were frequently entangled in continuous strife, contesting the primacy of essential resources, trade routes, and territories. This era, appropriately termed the "Age of Strife," had the land and its people in disarray. Each city-state was looking out for its own survival, and there was no notion of national unity. The divisions ran deep, with competitive factions seeking power not only within their borders but also in the larger regional context. Some city-states were built upon military traditions, while others pursued economic dominance. To many, this meant diplomacy was often thrown out the window for military force. It was in this fragmented environment that the ideal of a united nation seemed some sort of distant dream. There, people were in perpetual uncertainty, with never an idea whether their neighbors might, one moment, turn hostile. The Era of Collapse and Reflection By the time the 22nd century of Orbis Date began, the breaking point had been reached. The constant conflicts had left the land's infrastructure in ruins, and economies were faltering. The once-prosperous city-states now faced the reality of resource shortages, environmental degradation, and widespread poverty. The "Era of Collapse" brought the realization that the old ways could not continue. It was during this time of desperation that new voices began to emerge. A generation of thinkers, leaders, and activists thus started to plead for change. The message from them was very simple: these city-states had to put aside their differences, unite together for the common good, and work to rebuild the region. In their judgment, only cooperation, working together, and focusing on shared prosperity would help the city-states break this self-feeding cycle of conflict and guarantee a secure future for coming generations. The Road to Unification The idea of unification was an attractive one, yet it was strongly opposed by many who were afraid of losing their sovereignty and power. The established military powers within the city-states feared a unified nation would weaken their influence, while others doubted peace could ever be achieved after so many years of war. But as the economic collapse of the region deepened and the people grew weary of endless conflict, a shift began to take place. The economic and social challenges became too overwhelming for any one city-state to handle alone. Slowly, dialogue began to replace violence, and leaders from different city-states started to explore the possibility of a united Federation. In 2106 Orbis Date, after months of tense negotiations, the Treaty of Loxiville was signed. This historic treaty joined the previously warring city-states under one federal republic. The city-states were to retain partial autonomy, but the central government would assume responsibility for major areas of governance and resources. The Treaty laid down the charter for a new start based on peace, shared prosperity, and economic cooperation as the foundations of the now-born Federation. The Pacifist Vision From the very beginning, Loxie made a bold commitment to pacifism. Rather than relying on large military forces to ensure security, the Federation chose to prioritize diplomacy, international cooperation, and economic strength. A small, highly trained defense force was established, tasked only with self-defense and maintaining internal peace. The decision to reduce military presence and resort to pacifism was taken quite skeptically by some of its neighboring regions; yet, Loxie's leaders believed that security was best maintained through economic resilience and peaceful partnerships rather than by threats of force. A Beacon of Diplomacy and Cooperation Aside from economic development, Loxie sought to redefine its role in the world. The leadership of the Federation supported diplomacy and offered itself as neutral grounds for international talks and peaceful negotiations. Loxie's approach toward maintaining diplomatic relations with other nations stressed collaboration rather than competition, trade instead of war, and dialogue rather than conflict. Non-violence and an increase in economic power have allowed Loxie to forge alliances and establish trade relationships around the world. It has earned the respect of its allies and adversaries. With its diplomatic success and unification, Loxie was poised to become the model of what a peaceful and prosperous nation should be able to do. Rather than being defined by military might, Loxie derived its identity from its ability to foster strong international partnerships based on mutual benefit and shared goals. Although the Federation of Loxie is young and only recently emerged in 2106 Orbis Date, its foundations are strong. The commitment to pacifism, sustainable economic development, and international cooperation continued to shape its policies and global standing. The government of the Federation remains committed to the vision for peace and prosperity; hence, it has ensured that a small defense force exists primarily for protection of the nation and the people. As Loxie develops further, this influence grows not by the use of force, but through the force of the economy and deep international relationship. Loxie stands out as a true example of the power of unity, of an idea that in today's world, security is not based on the weapons, but on wisdom, innovations, and cooperation. |

Terrain: | The Federation's terrain is a tapestry of contrasting landscapes, from bustling urban centers to vast agricultural plains and towering mountain ranges. Coastal Areas: The eastern border of the Federation is bounded by a long, broken coastline, where sheer cliffs plunge into the crashing waves of the ocean. These coastal regions have a temperate climate and, along the coasts, there are several fishing harbors, while cities on islands or directly on the sea coast open the gate to international trade and commerce. Rolling Plains and Grasslands: To the west, it gradually gives way to rolling plains and expansive grasslands. These are flat, expansive areas used for farming and herding of livestock to feed the food and resource extracted for production needs of the Federation. The plains are dotted with small towns and rural communities that specialize in agricultural production, contributing to Loxie's strong focus on self-sufficiency. The Loxian Highlands: The center of the Federation's landmass notices a range of rugged highlands-known as the Loxian Highlands. These jagged mountains jump abruptly from the level grounds up and these highlands house numerous mining opportunities, more so in minerals and ores, which now turn to be an integral feature in the growing technological industries in Loxie. Lakes and River Systems: A network of rivers and lakes crisscrosses throughout the Federation, serving for agriculture, industry, and quenching thirst. Forests and Woodlands: Loxie is covered by dense forests of tall evergreen trees and mixed deciduous woods. |

Military | |
History: | The Federation of Loxie was formed based on the principles of peace, cooperation, and stability. From the very beginning, the leadership of the Federation understood that a large military force would be incompatible with the commitment of the nation to non-aggression and diplomacy. Reality, however, is that international relations and the need for defense did call for the establishment of a modest military force. Early Military Development: Following the unification of Loxie, the Federation's founders quickly realized that while a strong military presence was not desired, having some form of defense was necessary to protect the nation's sovereignty and ensure its peaceable status on the global stage. The first steps in military development were focused on establishing a small, professional military force that could deter threats without provoking conflict. This gave birth to the Loxian Defense Corps, composed of volunteers who would defend against external aggressions and maintain law and order within the state. Pacifism but Self-Defense Policy: Loxie's military doctrine is fundamentally defensive. All this time, the philosophy of the Federation has been that it does not wish to wage war or commit aggression but that its peace and sovereignty must be defended against external aggressions. The Loxian Defense Corps is moderately armed with effective defense tools, border patrols, peacekeeping missions, and disaster responses, rather than offensive operations. Focus on Strategic Alliances: Instead of a large standing army, the Federation of Loxie has relied more on diplomatic efforts, alliances, and trade agreements. The nation has been hard at work establishing close ties with its neighbors, using trade and mutual security agreements that allow Loxie to maintain peace without the need for military escalation. The Federation is a member of several regional organizations that promote peace and economic cooperation, which further reinforces its pacifist approach to global relations. Current Military: The military in the Federation is small, composed primarily of soldiers for peacekeeping. The armed forces have a strict mandate to not engage in any international conflicts, although they are ready for defense operations should that need arise. The military has basic mechanisms for defense, including small air and naval units for territorial defense and rapid response. |
