History: In late 2024, an online community of looksmaxxers started a GoFundMe for the creation of an independent settlement in Edgeøya. The project was initially intended as a joke, but as funding steadily grew, so did a genuine desire to form a nation independent of other, bluepilled, governments. The project leaders devoted their own streams of passive income (primarily earned through rare fish investment and dropshipping) as well as active income (gambling) toward the Edgeøya settlement, eventually surpassing the original goal by more than double.

By January 2025, the community gained its modern-day name of Skibinese (or Skibidese) due to members’ abnormally high levels of online activity and involvement in brainrot culture. Skibinese is an exonym, and ironically cannot even be pronounced in Skibinese as it would require breaking one’s mewing streak. The Skibinese refer to themselves as ___, meaning “the based ones.”

In May 2025, they were able to purchase two Gearing-class destroyers from the United States Navy. They selected the Gearing-class in order to pay homage to the USS Gyatt, a decommissioned World War Two destroyer of the same series that was sunk as a target in 1970. Skibinese people worldwide flocked to one of the two ports (either San Francisco, California or Sydney, Australia) and the journey to Edgeøya commenced.

As Edgeøya was uninhabited at the time, there was little resistance to Skibinese settlement. The Norwegian government attempted to stop them, but the moment Norwegian troops stepped foot on the island, they were brutally mogged by the Skibinese and forced to surrender. Edgeøya, now known as Mogolia, gained its independence from Norway the following day: May 21, 2025.
