The hard-nosed, cynical population of 8 million Haunds are ruled without fear or favor by a psychotic dictator, who outlaws just about everything and refers to the populace as "my little playthings."

The enormous, moralistic, socially-minded, well-organized government juggles the competing demands of Defense, Law & Order, and Spirituality. The average income tax rate is 67.6%, and even higher for the wealthy.

The fragile Keizhaundian economy, worth 198 billion Deustch Marks a year, is driven entirely by a combination of government and state-owned industry, with private enterprise illegal. The industrial sector, which is quite specialized, is led by the Arms Manufacturing industry, with major contributions from Trout Farming, Tourism, and Cheese Exports. Average income is 24,774 Deustch Marks, and distributed extremely evenly, with little difference between the richest and poorest citizens.

Warfare increasingly resembles a video game, the nation is automatically assumed to be the source of all unmarked weapons, cassocked priests and choirboys believe that what happens behind closed doors stays behind closed doors, and citizens who don't follow a major religion are closely monitored for signs of self-harm. Crime, especially youth-related, is totally unknown, thanks to a very well-funded police force and progressive social policies in education and welfare. Keizhaund's national animal is the Walrus, which frolics freely in the nation's sparkling oceans.
