History: Our nation was discovered by Captain James Cook, and while initially ignored the discovery of phosphate in 1849 drew the attention of British settlers. However, piracy was rampant on the islands and so the British militarily intervened. This was a huge mistake. They suffered major losses in a guerrilla war against pirate captain Jones Smith (now Jones I) and were forced to retreat. The nation became a repressive dictatorship under his reign when the rest of the world was democratising. After his death in 1900, his son Jones II took power. However Jones II was considered illegitimate by some and a civil war started. The British intervened in 1914, just a month before they joined WWI. Their pacific ally, the Japanese, intervened on behalf of their ally and they lost their offensive. But in the Battle of Pohnpei where a Magnificent Glorian expeditionary force attempted to liberate the island for Germany, there was a humiliating defeat. The war ultimately ended in a white peace in 1916 where Terra Magnifica Gloria agreed to recognise Japanese holdings in the pacific. Afterwards, Jones II was assassinated by an unknown rebel, however his successor Jones III believed it was a British agent. In the Interbellum, Jones III built up good ties with Italy and later Germany and Japan due to their similar ideologies. His rule was a reign of terror, where all suspected of being British sympathisers were executed and some 10,000 people are believed to have died. This shocked the League of Nations and the British called for a military intervention (but to no avail). This would erupt in 1941 when Terra Magnifica Gloria reached an agreement with Japan to fight along side them in the Pacific Theatre. To make a long story short, Terra Magnifica Gloria got obliterated. Major bombing and bombardment campaigns forced Terra Magnifica Gloria to sue for a conditional surrender, using increasingly desperate tactics to hold the allies at bay until it was no longer worth it and peace was agreed upon in 1944. Covertly, Jones III began cooperating with the United States to undermine the rising influence of the Soviet Union. The next major event happened in 1950, where Jones III agreed to intervene in the Korean War and sent an infantry division to aid the South. After Jones III died in 1953 and the Korean war ended, the tense friendship between the United States and Terra Magnifica Gloria only stayed as the CIA had an interest in preventing Communism from spreading there, and Jones IV was more than willing to comply. In 1955, Jones VI bonded greatly with the South Vietnamese, and sent forces there in 1963 after Nixon intervened. Even after the Americans left, the Magnificent Glorians stayed until January 1976, even after the South Vietnamese had surrendered. The rest will be written later
